COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
ISG is the granddaddy of our Rye Guy IPA. More grain! More hops! The result is an incredibly flavourful, yet balanced Imperial IPA. There is a big malt flavour up front which presents in the form of rich caramel and serves to balance the high bitterness of a beer weighing in at 90 IBUs. The result is a nice, lingering, spicy taste on the tongue. And at 9.1% ABV, this is definitely going to make you super!

650 ml bottle from the brewery, purchased on March 1, 2013. Honey amber, no head. Hoppy aroma of black tea, a little raw sugar. Citrus hoppy taste, a little sour, good bitterness. That some super guy!

Clear golden colour with little head. Aroma is crisp hops and pine with a touch of alcohol. Taste is very similar but with a little sweetness. Low carbonation. Great crisp beer.

Growler: Poured a clear amber color ale with a nice large foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma of citrusy and bitter hops notes is enjoyable. Taste is mostly dominated by citrusy bitter and dry hops with some light spicy rye notes and some dry caramel malt also noticeable. Body is about average withy good carbonation. Enjoyable even though I was try to cut back on the bitter finale.

(Rating #6213)

32oz growler from the brewery. Pours a dark, hazy orange. Almost thick. Thin lacing of head that disappears fairly quick. Aroma of pine, citrus, tropical fruit. Super hoppy taste. Again, pine and tropical fruits, but balanced well by the malts. Sort of a burnt caramel undertone. Bitter aftertaste, but at 90 IBU, expected. Very nice. Not for for the faint of heart, though.

7 ounces on tap at Vice Versa. Aroma : shy tropical fruits avec sugar from caramel. App : hazy copper with minimal white head. Taste and palate : medium body, oily, medium sweetness, clean long light bitter finish. Overall : good but a tad too sweet.

Growler from the brewery, courtesy of Cat & Shaun, served in a stem glass. Pours clear amber with a large beige head that remains and leaves a moderate amount of lace. The nose has huge notes of caramel, citrus, dried fruit and candy, with subtle pine and flowers. The flavour is mildly sweet up front, with loads of caramel. As it lingers on the palate, it acquires a slight spiciness and a balancing piney hip bitterness which grows toward the finish which is long and dry with a medium bitterness and a note of orange peel. On the palate it is medium in body with a smooth, milky texture and average carbonation. Overall, a very nice imperial IPA with a nice balance. 2014-12-26

32oz. growler from the brewery in Ottawa, Ontario. Orange-amber in colour with a thin lasting white head, light lacing. The aroma is of floral hops, some caramel malt sweetness, bready. The flavour is lightly sweet, some rye bread, citrus hops. Chewy mouthfeel. Finishes long, lots of hops, some warmth. Very nice.

[5912-20131010] Small growler. Mild grassy poop aroma has a light fruit note. Hazy, amber orange body with a quick foamy white head. Medium-full body. Bitter and tasty, not as boozy as I thought it should be with that ABV. (7/3/7/3/15) 3.5

Cask with grapefruit zest at the Ottawa Beerfest as Imperial Zesty Guy. A milky looking orange-copper cask color. The nose is citrus, grapefruit and light pine IPA goodness. Big grapefruit zest, solid malt backbone,  citrus & pine in a silky smooth velvety cask body. Good stuff.

ISG’s got a great look to it. Golden clear with a little head. Smell is crisp - hoppy and piney with a touch of rye. Taste is very similar to the nose, crisp and hoppy with a little sweetness to take some of the edge off. Carbonation is a little low but probably by design. Overall, it’s a little hoppy to my taste to have multiple of these in a sitting, but it’s a great crisp beer for 1-2 for a 1-2 beer session, or to mix up a longer session.
