ISG is the granddaddy of our Rye Guy IPA. More grain! More hops! The result is an incredibly flavourful, yet balanced Imperial IPA. There is a big malt flavour up front which presents in the form of rich caramel and serves to balance the high bitterness of a beer weighing in at 90 IBUs. The result is a nice, lingering, spicy taste on the tongue. And at 9.1% ABV, this is definitely going to make you super!

First have to say that of all the places that have opened up in Ottawa over the last few years this is the one that I was the most excited about and judging from the line-up when they opened today at noon (not too mention pretty much selling what they optimistically thought was a weekís worth of beer in 2 days) I am not alone. Now that being said I didnít necessarily think this would be the greatest beer ever but based on some interviews and discussions the brewers are passionate about beer and enjoy many of the same styles that us beer nerds do. Anyways...poured from a small growler (more places in Ontario need to do this). Dark amber with pretty much no head even with a swirl. A fair amount of caramel malt with a nice blend of resin and some citrus, bit of green apple and no hint of alcohol. Carbonation is very low so curious if maybe this suffered from being put into the growler, moderate body, initial bitterness that becomes astringent on the finish, dry, lots of resin and a very nice bitter taste at the every end. Like this, need to try it on tap or another growler to see if the carbonation appears as I think it would substantially improve things - that being said its worth trying for sure.

Hop bomb, with a rye edge. 90 IBU decent drinkability. Lacy. Hoppiest beer for miles.

Appearance: Dark brown clear Aroma: Barley, malt Taste: Barley, malt, hint of hops Palette: The beer had moderate carbonation and seemed very thick on the palette. Overall: Tasted this beer at the May 24, 2014 Beer Market event in Ottawa. For an Imperial IPA I was surprised at the lack of hop notes and that the barley and malt were the main smells and flavours with this one. Overall, this was a good IPA but not one I would want to drink often.

A hazy orange pour. Thick white head that leaves significant lacing. Aromas of citrus fruits especially grapefruit. Some pine. Tastes of orange peel with a hint of caramel. Very bitter. Very dry mouth feel. Very good but Iíve had better IIPAs.

A hazed golden DIPA with a thin white head. In aroma, biscuit malt with grassy piney floral hops, citrus pulp, very nice. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity biscuit malt with tropical fruits, piney hops, light alcohol, nice. On tap at BTP/Stock Pot tap take over, April 2014.

Pale golden pour with a thin white head. The nose has a lot of bright citrusy character. Lemon and grapefruit and some heavy pine. Really rich and slightly peppery. Just a tasty IIPA.

Labeled growler thanks to Chad. Pours dirty orange amber with off white head. Nose/taste of rye, citrus, caramel malt, earthy pine, spicy yeast, orange peel and toasted bread. Medium body.

It had a nice, foamy head on top of its amber base. The aroma wasnít as hop-forward as I was expecting. There were hints of pine and citrus along with a decent maltiness. It was crisp but slightly heavy. The high alcohol content wasnít overpowering and it was smooth on the palate.

My Bottom Line:
This rich Rye Wine-like creature develops plenty of caramelized cereal flavors to ground floral and citrusy hops in a slick, classy mouthfeel.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam tops the hazy pale amber.
-Alcohol is well hidden, but one can guess the potency of this beer easily through the mouthfeel (alcohol adding to it clearly).
-Hops and rye combine for a spicy touch in the finish.
-Sweetness levels are higher than expected. This is a sipper, no doubt.
-Execution is flawless. Beautiful malt structure throughout.

A lovely orange/amber body topped by a moderate soft white head. Initial taste is rye with punchy grapefruit hops, orange rind, rich bready malt and a hint of pepper and sweetness. The hops become more astringent deeper into the taste. Mouth feel is rich and smooth. Powerhouse IIPA

Bomber, c/o JerCraigs - thanks!!! Pours somewhat cloudy deep orange-amber with fairly large and lasting bubbly/creamy beige head. Solid DIPA aroma with "rye" bite to it - resin/citrus bitterness, plenty of malt backbone - darned near a 9/10. Taste folows - itís very like Cameronís Rye PA but a bit boozier and definitely maltier - a solid no prisoners 8/10 here too. Chewy, fairly thick body, astringent, only mildly carbonated, a fairly long bitter finish, middling pithy palate coating tendencies, but overall massively drinkable for such a big beer. I will seek it out again.
