Gross bottle shared by gross Renee and gross Wayne. Pours a gross muddy brown with minimal gross head. Gross aroma is gross tartness with caramel. Taste is gross vinegar and gross raisins. Tastes like it was brewed by Macon Beer Company.

UPDATED: AUG 21, 2015 2011 bottle, drunk 8/15/15 at OEC Sour Fest (listed as 12% abv aged in Rum barrels).
Nearly lifeless, drab mahogany brown liquid is fairly clear with a rapidly fizzling mass of beige bubbles atop.
Caramel, faint acetic notes, a fair amount of fruitiness from the yeast/bacteria and a good deal of oxidation.
The body is rather loosened by the alcohol and low carbonation (and age), and while the beer isn’t overly boozey or harsh (and the rum isn’t out of control either), you’ve still got the warming from the alcohol, as well as light candy-like esters. The rum flavor, coupled with the lightly sour/spicy rye and obtuse fruity acid notes all just give a lot of liqueur and juice-like flavors. Not much beer character and what is there of it is rather soggy, bready malt and cardboard-like oxidation. Really not a single enjoyable thing for me. If you like old, slightly sour, fruity, flat barleywines though, you’re gonna love this!

Dark, cloudy brown with barely a ring of beige....
Woody, sugary/tart, boozy, dark fruit aroma.
Taste is very tart.....at first....incredible woody-ness....
Rum, bark, black cherry....
Interesting stuff....gets better as it warms to room temp...Everytime I pick it up, it’s different..
A little peanut oil, vanilla, vinous notes....
Remains tart, but earthily so....spiced rum? Tomato?.....very complex..
Really nice experience to drink....
I’ll try this again, if I can.....

Bottle (courtesy of cybercat). Lactic orange, brown sugar malt, rum, and weedy grass aroma. Dark brown with minimal head. Sweet-tart cherry, light brown sugar, barley malt, and mildly bitter herbal flavor. Light rum finish. Nice body. Interesting - grew on me.

A hard pour produced a small amount of foam that quickly disappears. Pretty much no lacing. Well, it’s a 2011.
The colour is an opaque dark brown.
Initial whiffs reveal something very English Barleywine like with sweet caramel notes but that surrenders to a flood of sour aromas. That and some astringency.
Definitely a mix of English Barleywine and fruity, vinegar sourness. Could it be I this doesn’t age well or was the intended result of the 2 breweries?
Not a drain pour by any means but not something that I would buy again

375mL bottle, courtesy of fiulijn (thanks Alex), pours a filthy dark reddish brown with no head. Aroma is quite unique, with dark sour fruits, a little rye, and maybe a touch of oak -- not getting the rum on this though. Flavour reveals quite a bit of rye, followed by tart dark fruits, light-to-moderate vinegary quality, and a decent woodiness. Again, not getting any rum barrels as all. A fairly pleasant woody, dark fruity sour with moderate vinegariness on the finish. Quite decent, but rather dirty and muffled.

11.4 oz swingtop bottle. Dated 2011. Just got re released here in OH for some reason. Pours a hazy dark red brown color. Dark particles in the body. Khaki bubbles, but absolutely no head. Drinks as flat as it looks, absolutely no carbonation. Bigger body. Kind of slick. Lots of dark fruit, and vinegar in the flavor, and what I guess is kind of a woody mildly spicy rum aroma. Some decent vanilla in there comes out later, some vinous notes for sure. Moderate sour taste, mild tannic, bigger sweet. Overall, not a fan of this one. Not easy to drink, the absolute lack of carbonation doesn’t help at all with that. Why does it have to be flat, who wants that in a beer? Weird unpleasant kind of acetic taste to it as well that doesn’t agree with me. Managed to finish the glass after a long period of time (sipped at it while packing a box up for a trade). It did get slightly better as I went further.

Shelled out the 1000 yen for this Terrapin/BFM collaboration barleywine is made with 20% & 80% malts then aged in rum barrels. Bottle from World Beer Market’s online shop. Served in a snifter. 10.03% It pours a plum brown with no head but has a wonderfully rich nose of sweet candied plums, warming rum, dark fruits and a touch of oak. Smooth viscous mouthfeel while the taste gives you a berry tartness, woodsy, sweet fruits, some oak and some rum heat going down. Really good stuff, not what I was expecting. It is more of a sour brown ale than a barleywine, nice tartness, fruits & some oaky/earthy barrel-character. I like it to sip on such a cold winter day.

330 ml Bottle shared by Eric H. Dirty brown color without any head. I didn’t hear a pop when he opened the bottle but I was talking when he opened it. Aroma is dirty socks, vinegar and light oak.
I don’t taste and rum at all, just sour brune. Port wine hints up front with overly tart fruit and vinegar through the center. The flat mouthfeel doesn’t help the flavor in anyway shape or form. The only thing I like about it is the rye malt and barely can still be detected. Some sour heads may like it but it’s hard to know what you will get after opening the swing top.
