Orangish brown liquid, thin enough head. Nose was sour and malty with a downpour of funky citrus fumes. Sour flavors turning plastic and staying effervescent, the finish being a bit astringent and plasticy and in a slightly bitter type of way. Good nonetheless.

Nice bubble release from a slightly chilled bottled, I can smell sour cherries as soon as the seal is broken. Stewed strawberry and tart cherry nose with a touch oak dryness. A sweet and slightly oxidized malty backbone serves as a perfect foil for dry fruits and aged balsamic vinegar. Each swirl and sip reveals a little more. Very complex indeed with a seamless flow that might pass by the idle observer. As the glass wanes the oak start to show its assertiveness as the malt cedes the floor. Refreshing at 11%! Excellent beer, a real pleasure to have this. Made for a wine drinker for sure. Incredible balance of sour, oak, and malt. A touch of funk (from barrel I presume) adds a spicy perfume. Fine sour, worth the price and the hassle.

No pop to the cap, very still in the glass. Musky chestnut brown, more sediment in this pour than the 05 or the 07. Overripe bruised pear, some yeasty slurry. Bitter fruit skin and a waxy finish, not as much as the 05

750ml bottle at DuffManSW’s. Could have sworn I rated this before, must have been another BFM. Muddy brown color. I remember this wasn’t over the top sour, but a real nice light sour flavor that was very palatable. Thanks to whoever brought this for the tasting.

#100! Bottle at DuffmanSWs beer tasting. Pours a hazy reddish brown with a small white head that disappeared quickly. Aroma is all funk, with plenty of sourness and some burnt tires. Maybe a touch of over ripe fruit. Flavor is a medium sour with some oak and fruit. Alot of funk in this one. Finish is somewhere between sour milk and red wine. Palate is medium with alot of fizz at first, but the carbonation dies off quickly. A nice beer, and satisfactory for my 100th rating!

Poured amber with a fluffy white head. Aroma of sour fruit. Lots of sour character. Mostly apples. Some oak flavor in the finish. Well rounded.

Pros: Clean sour. Port-like character, with chewy dark fruit, vinous notes. . Enjoyable for the most part. Has a nice color and good retention.

Cons: Fairly thin mouth feel. Also a bit oxidized. Sparse aromatics. Not a lot of depth. Not nearly as good as the 2007.

A enjoyable ale.

Bottle shared with, and courtesy of MartinT. Half the bottle rushed out of the bottle like a fountain. Cloudy red-brown. Light sour dark fruit scent. Muddy cherry tart beer. Light chocolate and cherry.
