UPDATED: AUG 23, 2009 Bottle, 11%. Good vanilla aroma, has some citric and funky notes. Cloudy orange colour. No head. the flavour is nicely citric, good sourness, lactic. But still balanced. Bites a bit in the finish and has a little paint thinner in the finish.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 fiulijn (10383) - Como, ITALY - APR 3, 2010
Dark red-amber color, hazy; sparse bubbles, no head. The aroma is more elegant and balanced than usual, with caramel, oak, light vanilla, a touch of the BFM funkiness; vinous. Good body structure; there is caramel flavor, but mostly a wine flavor, a bit acidic, funky; the light alcohol presence is actually complementing these flavors; the final has also a light vinegar component. As usual, the Abbaye de Saint-Bon chien is a great beer, but I had better vintages.
