3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 jaghana (2829) - Strasbourg (France), FRANCE - OCT 7, 2011
Bottle 75cl from Cave a Bulle bottle #276. A clear red beer without head. Nose is near a rich oude bruin like Rodenbach. Aroma is fruity, tartric, lactic, dry, near to a lambic, bit cherry like, with almond notes, wood notes, complex. Difficult to detect it’s a 11° beer on the taste, nice but a bit too dry for me, anyway a very pleasant beer.

On tap at Max’s. murky chestnut with lasting thin tan head. Nose is sweet, cherry chocolate and balsamic. Flavor is brine, cherry, chocolate, light paper. Bit soft, overly sweet, estery profile with too much acidity and darker malt clashing in the finish, though thankfully no chest burn.

750, capped and taped. Pours an opaque dark brown with no head or lace. Big tart oaky nose, showing lots of vinous acidity. Watery medium body, no carb. Nice balsamic, plenty of vinous character, brightly acidic and showing plenty of oak. Long tart finish. Very appealing and complex showing.

Draft @ Moeder Lambic in BFM chalice.

(750ml bottle blended April 2010 thanks to BMan1113VR) cloudy amber-orange with soapy bubbles. Nose is mossy, funky, currant, cranberry, and alcohol. Taste of tangerine, wet barrel, cranberry, pipe tobacco, easy to drink and smooth. One of the more complex sours in recent memory. Amazingly good linger, and a bit of alcohol on the palate finish.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 fiulijn (12179) - Malmö, DENMARK - JUL 26, 2011
2 years old Cloudy dark amber color (although the bottle rested one year with no shaking); the low carbonation allows for a small head. The aroma is mild, more harmonious than the ASBC 2007 tasted side-to-side, with some gentle sourness, wood, nice red fruits (even some raspberries), and a light dusty character. The body is quite lean; the mouthfeel is soft and quite dry; there is a good blend of caramel, tart character, lemony accents, light vinous touch; the acidity is well controlled too, and the alcohol is not evident. Excellent.

Pours occluded amber into a tulip. Off-white head quickly subsides to nothing. Sour cherry and oak aromas. Soft with sour cherry and summer pit fruit from front to back. Dry, lasting dark grape and oak finish.

Delicious sour. On draft at Memphis Taproom. Very complex, hints of cherry, vanilla, and funk. Pours deep amber. Nice acidic bite to complement the high ABV.

On tap at Farmhouse in Burlington for their Big Ass Beer Event. Bright ruby pour with absolutely no head. This beer is completely flat. Aroma is marked by fantastic sweetness in the form of both the chardonnay barrel with vanilla and wood, along with big dark fruit, cherry and orange peel. This combines with an excellent funkiness that melds delightfully with this woody and boozy presence. I think this is significantly better than the 2006. Delicious.
