Overall an amazing beer I am very glad I could try. One of the most complex things I have ever tasted. Sweet like a great oak aged beer yet still very sour and tart.

UPDATED: MAR 13, 2011 Sweet and tart aroma, a bit winey, very complex with light alochol notes...a bit of apple and wood. Hazy amber with a golden tinge. Tase is slightly tart (hints of vinnegar, grapefruit and green apple) with notes of wood and vanilla. Excellent and complex, would love to try it aged.
Also tried on tap at Alvinne CBF ’11

from Erzbierschof - pours a cloudy copper-brown colour with some bubbles left on the side of the glass; a fair woody aroma with notes of vinegar, apples and cherries, vinous; full-bodied and slightly oily; moderate carbonation and with a fair sourness; a long sourish aftertaste with more notes of wood, vinegar and red fruits - superb vintage again from this legendary holy cat

Draft @ Moeder Lambic in BFM chalice.

Bottle from Simon at La Cave a Bulles, Paris, France. Pours a tea brown/amber with a thin head of white. Aroma is immediately noticeable, even from a distance. Notes of sour oak, cherry, farmhouse horse blanket, cherry leather, and a touch of lemon-soaked hay are featured in the nose. All this is noted as the glass sits 1.5 feet away. Huge nose. Flavor is slightly burnt lemon peel, orange zest, horse blanket, leather, and a touch of lemon juice. Syrupy but slightly thin. Wow. Very interesting sour, and one that I would love to have again.

Bottle somehow procured by kaggie97 (rumors abound!!) and then hauled back from France just for the July Houston RB tasting. Thanks Kevin! Nose is super tart and tangy-nice start. Taste actually starts off a bit sweet (surprisingly) and then gets to a smoky, tangy, barrel taste. Extremely complex-more than I can get a handle on. The 11% alcohol is completely hidden. Body is actually thick and chewy. Wow this is one unique and great beer. Will Kevin continue to procure these rare beers by unknown means-time will tell!!

Bottled 750ml ordered from www.erzbiershop.ch. Vinous, complex and delicious. A great sour ale.

Tap at Church Key. Pours a little on the flat side, with hardly any head, but the natural sourness and complexity doesn’t degrade the mouth feel. Nose is tart and light, young and complex. Taste is fresh, young, sour, light and tart. Generally quite a light mouthfeel, and hides its ABV excellently. Brilliant.
4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 bhensonb (8997) - Woodland, California, USA - MAY 5, 2012
Bottle from Monument in Concord, CA. Pours hazy dark ruddy-orange amber with a few whiteish bubbles. Aromas of oak and light pitted fruits. Underlying vinosity. Med body. Flavor is tart, oaky and has a fair amount of light pitted fruit arguably accompanied by citrus. Orange even. Some of that fruit may actually be red berry. Certainly some red wine comes forth. And it shows sour. Heat is hardly noticeable. Finishes deliciously fruity, oaky, sour and astringent. All quite mellow.

Hazy red amber color. Cherries, green apples and oak in the nose. Very tart, oaky with tons of cherries and strong green apples. Big lingering sour, slightly harsh finish. Perfect until the end.
