3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Hazy, ruddy brown pour with a thin, off white head. Aroma is Full of tart fruit and vinous notes, sweet malt, light, crusty bread, earthy funk and fallen leaves. Flavor is tart and funky up front, with some earthiness, vinous notes, dark fruit, buttery and lightly toasty oak, candi sugar sweetness, vanilla and a nice light booziness. Medium body, sicky, chewy entry, with a gradual fade into a slightly dry and pleasantly pucker inducing tart finish. Pretty freaking delicious, I have never had a sour with an ABV this high, and I have to say I enjoyed it. Like an earthy quad with a nice tart backbone.

2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
0.75 l bottle from Alko Arkadia, Helsinki. Brown colour, no head at all, looks like the Finnish homemade low alcohol ale. Taste is in my mouth mainly acid, maybe with a hint of yeast and malts. You need to eat something while drinking this.

Semihazy red brown body, no head at all. Aroma has lots of things, sourness, berries, pink bubblegum, acidic maltiness. Flavour has straigh acidic, apples, vinegar. Quite thick body for such acidic beer. Very nice sour.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
(750ml bottle) cloudy reddish-orange body, wispy light tan bubbles. Nose of rich vinous, wine barrels, nice complexity, mossy, wet barrels. Taste is vinous, super smooth wine barrel, grapes, super complex, delicious and awesome linger.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: MAR 1, 2013 Murky red-brown body, moderate sized pale brown head, quickly recedes, leaves behind just a little lacing. Profoundly complex with layers of vinous notes--various wine barrels add a bunch of different notes--cherries and other dark fruits are also present along with a healthy dose of musty funk. Medium bodied, fairly slick on the tongue, lingering acidic finish. Impressive.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Appearance was clear red honey caramel with diminishing creamy tiny white head, no lacing. Aromas are mild sweet caramel smoke, maple wood with cherry white wine with slight tannins, no alcohol present. Taste was fruity yeasts of apple, cherry, oaky red and white wine with sourness but milder than older versions. Palate was silky champagne-like CO2 with meduim body, then long fruity soft dryish warming smoother finish. Smoother version of the sours than older ones...

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20
Murky amber pour, no head. Basically a still beer, almost no carbonation. Aroma of prunes, cider, oxidation. Vinous with a grapey acidity. More oxidation on the palate. Finishes dry with stewed red fruit flavors, plenty of oak, and a mild lingering sourness. The finish gets complex as it warms, and starts to show the nuances of the wine barrels used for aging. Certainly some oaky chardonnay notes, showing a creamy vanilla. The high ABV is not apparent. Not worth the $29.95 I paid at Whole Foods, though.
