Bottle pour, gamboge color. Aroma is vinous sour, with tart berry fruit and a slight cider vinegar hint. Taste is about the same as the aroma lots of berry fruit and vinegar/vinous sour with a little malt sweetness at the end. Smooth with no carbonation, the taste does linger a bit but finish is dry. Nice beer, would like to see how this is after it sits awhile.

Bottle at our buds new house, Kevin well done. Poured clear reddish brown, almost no carbonation. Nose is oaky, vanilla, almost Flemish brown, red wine notes. Lots of the same on the palate with some acidity in the finish. Maybe a little flat but still a hell of a sour ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Nice aroma of vinegar, brown mustard, red and white white. The appearance is brown, off white head. The flavor is vinegar, mustard, vinous, sour, fruit. The finish is tart fruit, sour. Nice.

Original brew, in a series of vintages, this one matured in a combination of no less than 11 wine barrels; essentially a ’massive ale’ in abbey beer form, but the wine barrels render it ’oaky’ and sourish, reminiscent of a ’versnijbier’ or even an ’oud bruin’. Off-white, thin and unstable head on a misty bronze beer; smells of caramel, red wine, yoghurt, passion fruit, bread, blackcurrant; very fruity taste with an explicit, drying lactic acidity that carries on till deep into the finish, soft maltiness, a bit oily mouthfeel, woody. Interesting, especially since it’s Swiss, but I guess this is only truly enjoyable to those who prefer the sour beer types.

Probably a Belmont bottle but ultimately enjoyed in Florida. Pours a clear copper color with not much of a bubbly khaki head. Huge aroma that reminds me of bourbon from afar but you get some funky wine as you bring the class close. Big taste that actually starts with acetone but mellows into a light tartness. Okay but a little rough.

750 ml bottle sample from notes. Pours a hazy amber brown color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have tart fruity notes with some acidity, caramel, bready malt, vinous notes, tannins, alcohol, oak, and raisins all with a dry finish. Full body, vinous sour, medium warmth and carbonation.

Capped 750 (#00276) from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours hazy dark amber/brown with no head. Aromas of sourish oak and grapes. Med body or so. Little carbonation. It’s sort of a Flanders red. Not too sour, very woody/oaky, and it seems to have a lot of grape. Mostly red berry. Finishes, dry, mildly sour and somewhat oak astringent. Very tasty.

Another big boy bottle shared by the host EricTeusink. I owe you man. The beer poured amber//brown with some sediment and no head. Aroma was sour cherries, vinous, dark caramel. Taste was sour dark cherries, wood, caramel malts, old red wine. The finish was a bit muddled tartness with a rather large oak component. Pretty nice and a treat drinking the 2010 brew. Perhaps just a bit past its prime.

puissante, vineuse, beaucoup d’acidité, fruits rouges (framboise surtout). Notes boisées aussi. Bien mais aps trop mon style.

Bottle from Alko Arkadia. Murky reddish, amber color, no head. Tart, strawberry aroma. Medium to full-bodied. Very berryish, strawberry, tart cherries, alcohol. Some red wine notes. Not the best of these BFMs. Too much overriped berries.
