Bottle from Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours murky brown with a thin beige head (rare for BFM) and a fruit and vinegar aroma. There is a tart vinous fruit flavor with a pleasant oak finish.

On tap. Clear dark red ambder with almost no head. Very pleasant floral caramel apple aroma. Very bright thick sticky palate. Tastes of lemon! Sour green apple and caramel with a dry oaky vanilla and candy finish and lingering floral perfume on the back end. Excellent.

A draft pour at THE LOCAL beer bar in Eureka, CA. Came in the glass a copper color with a small off-white head. and light lacing. Nose of sour cherries and oak. Medium in body with with a lively and somewhat alcoholic mouthfeel, Flavor is tart, and shows cherries, ripe dark fruit, and again the oak in the background, and a little bit of funk. The finish is tart and funky as well. Really delicious beer and one that demands to be sipped, not chugged.

Pours a brown ruby rusty color thats slightly hazy with a three fingered eggshell foam that settles to a little ring. Earthy, boozy, sour cherry, iron, wet wood rise to the nose.... on the palate it fresher and brighter than some of the past Bon-Chien Ive had and its a nice change. Lively and fresh but still complex and earthy but the sour tart cherries are more pronounced and there is less deep dark fruit flavors coming through. Nice bit of carbonation to liven up the palate. Berries, oak, apple cider... Yum

Tap at Smoke & Barrel. Pours a clear jewel ruby with no head and no carbonation. Typical. Nose is detergent and heavy acetic acid. Moves to sharp strawberry/raspberry. Something like sweet short ribs- no that's just the restaurant. Taste is heavy acetic acid, Flemish Red red wine, oak, balsamic. Palate is rich, acetic, very hot. Heavy apple cider vinegar is an understatement. Some lactic density seems to work well. Though very heavy on acetic acid, the profile BFM has consistently created is still quaffable, quenching, enjoyable. Still dangerous at 11%. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
