7/17/12. 750mL bottle. Hazed, rich amber pour with a small, frothy khaki head that’s gone fast and barely laces. Rich aroma with vanilla, cream, oak, leather, funk, licorice, and mint. Rich cherry flavor with lots of tartness, harsh oak and earthy leather tones on top of some dirt and vinegar. Interesting and tasty but I wonder what this would be like with some time on it.

Bottle from Welschland. Pours glowing copper, cloudy. Sour fruity nose, hints of cherries and marcipan. Nice sour fruit flavours with vanilla oakiness and marcipane sweetness. A late night treat!

This is a beautiful beer. From bottle No. 00276. Pours a deep amber red color with a really nice looking beige head, that stay nicely. Aromas for dry red fuits, berries, malts and notes of oaks. Complex flavors of dry red fruits, apples, light woody notes. Nice dry sourness, reminds me of some great lambics. Nice complex evolving and long lasting taste. Very enjoyable. Had the 2009, and this 2011 is just as nice, very top consistant Swiss Ale. Can’t wait to try other BFM.

Draft. In Kansas City. No shit. Hazy ruby maroon color, thick tan head, good retention, solid lacing. Aroma of sour prunes, dates, plums. Taste is sour summer and winter fruit, raisins, dates, figs. Amazing.

Sampled at the mekong beers gone wild. Side by side with the 07 and 09. This was the Mildest of all but was still good. All the normal "sour" qualities and "bon chief-ness". My least favorite of the three.

Medium brown with a reddish tint. Nice thick head. Aromas of vinegar and cherries. Pretty sweet and juicy but remains sour to a degree. Well hidden alcohol.

On draft at the Beer Kitchen. This is the first time I have tried this beer on tap. Its kind of flat still. But either way it is all sour, some acetic but nothing harsh and mostly lactic. Strong alcohol while well hidden makes this a very different type of sour ale. I am not really sure why we keep separating the listings on this beer.

On tap @ Bambinos. Holy crap does this place have good beers on tap... Anyway, pours deep toffee reddish orange. Thick head that quickly disappears. Strong tart fruits on the aroma. Taste is big: punchy tartness up front that clears quickly and lets the sweet malts show up. Well balanced and quite quenching in the summer. 11% abv is well hidden, I’d guess this was 8 or 9 at most. This is probably my first Swiss beer and I will be having more.
