Draft at the Coffee District in Delray Beach, FL. Snifter. Pours a muddy, murky reddish brown with a one finger white foamy head. Aroma of sweet fruits such as cherries and plums. Some infection on the nose, but pleasant. Taste was fruits such as cherries, currents, sour apples. Mild carbonation. A malty blend with a clean, sour finish like a green apple. Somewhat dry, but pleasant. Medium light i body. Very good sour.

Draft January 2013. Pours a hazy, orange amber color with a small, bubbly off-white head. The aroma has sweet caramel, tart and sour cherry, berries, oak and vinegar. The flavor brings more of the same tart cherry fruits, spices, sweet caramel malts, oak, vinegar and alcohol with a mild vinous note. Hides the abv pretty well.

On tap @ Beachwood Brewing. Dark reddish pour with very little head. The nose is really heavy on the wine. Vinous, moderately acetic, and quite a bit of fruit. Cherry and raisin, in particular. Oak, red wine, and vinegar flavors. Lots of cherry and raisin, some lemon peel, grass, and booze.

On tap at Beachwood. P: Dark amber? Brown red? Something like that. Pretty hazy beer with a thin white head, although I heard that the head from the bottle is huge. S: Very complex stuff going on here, dried raisins, cherries, rotting wood, figs, dark caramel, plums and some nuts. The smell is just all over. T: Found a lot of sweet malt in here, some cherries, a nice fruity presences mainly pears, wood and leather. M: Thin with light carbonation. O: I havent had many Biere de Garde but this was nice and will possibly be seeking a bottle. Also I had no idea this was 11 percent and I would of never guessed.

Bottle shared at a sour tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Orange, headless and with floaties. Nuts, bile and gherkin water aroma, tastes more pleasing and fruity, though, like fruit soup. Starts very sour and becomes more tolerable and sweeter and sips go by. full and heavy body, very carbonated and slightly sour finish. Not an easy beer.

Bottle at RBSG. Pour is a dirty red/brown. Sour cherry aroma, some woodiness to it. Flavor is tart cherry up front, finished a bit dry. Really a great beer, abv is non-existent. Could drink a lot of this.

DATE TASTED: August 8, 2013 ... GLASSWARE: Chimay goblet... OCCASION: celebrating birthday #37 in style... APPEARANCE: dense, dark amber-brown body with a single-finger froth that settles swiftly to a ring around an island of softened cirrus... AROMA: incredible red wine waft--especially merlot--takes the nostrils by force; secondary fragrant hops with bubblegum yeasts make this an alluring beer to hover over...a bit of cherries and some plum too...complex......PALATE: incredibly dry, warm, full-bodied mouthfeel--definitely worth a chalice and an evening; three sips to thirty sips, just as easy drinking...TASTE: sour but comfortably palatable; deliciously reminiscent of merlot, with a yeasty component that conflates the grape and rounds it... OVERALL: As farmhouse ales go, this is one beauty that made me buy a Saison Dupont on my last shopping trip, if only because the style, when done well, is inimitable; powerful, delectable, alcoholic but sensible in its balance; bought on a whim, this exceeded my expectations...
