At high rollers 2012. Fantastic clean woody funky tart, but not too tart. Amazing. Complex and well blended. Another wonderful bon chien

375mL TR3 thanks to BrainLayer. Pours tepid, clear strawberry with bubbles and no head formation. Nose is richer, vinous, mildly sharp acetic/vinegar. Strawberries, muted liquor barrel. Taste is bourbon like, thicker, nicely muted acetic acid. Nice leathery, tart palate. Spicy finish. A big improvement over the VJ2. Great stuff. Mild sage and lavender bitters. Very good.

Tasted on 8/9/11 from a 375mL capped bottle purchased at West Lakeview Liquors. This is labeled as TR5. Pours hazy burnt orange with a fiery red tint, and no head whatsoever, just a little bit of off-white lacing that disappears rather quickly. The nose is very sour with lemon and vinegar, and funky with barnyard, along with some caramel and brown sugar malt, vanilla oak, and some alcoholic heat. The flavor is a nice blend of sour lemon and vinegar with pleasant toasted malts, and a bit of oxidative oak coming through, presenting as a hint of hazelnut. The body is fairly full with just a light hint of carbonation and a long, sour, malty, and lightly nutty finish. Overall, this beer reminds me of an older oak-aged white wine that is beginning to show a bit of age.

TR3 Bottle shared with others. Pours a clear ruby red with an amber hue and pretty much no head. Aroma has a decent amount of oak with a hint of sourness with some earthy grains lying underneath. Flavor begins with sour fruits and sweet grains and finished with barrel and a good amount of acid.

This poured a cloudy reddish color with a biege head. Aroma was light fruits, belgina yeasty character, and some tart and must. Flavor was medium sourness, some sour cherries and dusty blueberries. Decent.

Fall 2011 Ratebeer gathering. My first beer from this brewery. +++ Sampled from a 375cl green bottle this beer poured a bright caramel-orange color with a trace white head that left no lacing. The aroma was tart, bretty and had a light caramel note. The flavor was very tart and bitter with strong notes of Sweettart candies and chalk and light ripe golden fruits. The finish was long, dryish, tart and chalky. Full bodied. Interesting.

Clear red-brown, off white cover. Aroma is light tart, acetic, caramel, cherry. Taste is again acetic, nice tart cherry, lacing descriptors, but this is nice stuff.

500mL Bottle. Shared by Sean, Thanks! Slight buttery sour and barrel aroma. Some oak and strong wine. Tangy and vinous. Heavily vinous, unsurprisingly. The sourness is kind of one dimensional and I can’t feel much beneath. I’ve never been impressed with the complexity or breadth of their beers. Plain.
