3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
An unusual stout in that it has a lot of malt character. Not much head or aroma.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Way under rated here...Pours a dark mahogany brown with fluffy tan head. Aromas of dark malts, tobacco, and some funk. Flavors of sour barrel, dark malts and fruits.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle shared at a tasting. Deep brown with a big beige head. Aroma of chocolate, dried fruits, nuts and alcohol. Medium sweet, flavors of prunes, berries, roasted malt, nuts, licorice, vanilla, light tartness. Medium-bodied, smooth. Not a typical RIS, but still quite nice.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle sample at a tasting at Stas’s place. Thanks zvsn. 2015 batch. Opaque brown with big brownish head. Aroma of salty snack and cola, a bit soapy. Sourish flavor with notes of salty snack, soapy, some roastiness, a bit nutty. Full-bodied. Not really an IS but kind of American strong ale.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Stas’s place. Thanks zvsn. 2015 batch. Dark brown to black with a beige head. Aroma of roast, nuts, dark fruits, caramel, a bit of alcohol. Sweet flavor, slightly sourish, with caramel, roast, nuts, some dark fruits, an alcoholic note and a bitter finish. Medium-bodied. Not very Imperial Stout-ish.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma is dark. slightly burnt, malts. Wee licorice and dark fruits. Taste brings roasted, slightly burnt malts with a little sour red berry lingering underneath. Chocolate and dark coffee. There’s pretty much going on in here, but nothing is really allowed to show off. Wee peppery, but I don’t catch any vanilla at all.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark brown with a big beige head. Aroma is chocolate and fruits but there is also some sulfur comparable to the one on matches. Taste is moderately sweet with a delicate sourness. It isn’t a typical stout at all. I would compare it to the rest of BFM beers but without intensity and with a bit sulfur. Not the best beer from this brewer.

Black brown color with beige foam layer. Light acidic nose. The taste is roasty and dark malty. A little aggressive roasty. Light vinegar aftertaste.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Pours dark brown with red/maroon highlights; the head is tight-grained, cinnamon, and solid, and we have visible floaters in the beer, about the size of a flake of loose tea. Nose is milk chocolate, black pepper, and black tea; somewhat subdued. Rqather sweet on the front of the tongue; vanilla, espresso, and chocolate predominant. As it moves towards the back, tea and pepper kicks in. It’s not actually very dry; a liqueur-like syrupy sweetness remains with a hint of liquorice. Low carbonation. Finish is medium and warm with some ashy, peppery bitterness. Interesting, but nowhere near as extreme as it would like to pretend.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Beers’n’more. Surprisingly hoppy for an imperial stout, yet not lacking dessert sweetness. Soft, smooth and sweet on the tongue. Well-hidden alcohol.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Shared 11.2 oz. bottle. Very dark brown, almost black with tan head. Aroma of light vanilla, roasted malt, chocolate. Dark tea, bitter chocolate, light pepper, light vanilla, toasty malt, tobacco, spice, and dark fruit flavors. Starts off a little sweet on the tip of the tongue and then proceeds to a more dry and bitter finish. Alcohol is well-hidden for 10.3 ABV. Rather unique. Nice bottle.
