COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Silver medal at Soleure’s extreme beer fest 2007. An extreme black beer whose nose goes toward pepper, vanilla, ashes, tobacco and fresh hops. It reaches the palate all in softness, but quickly becomes intensely bitter, though not very dry. Long and satisfying finish.
This Cuvée was created in the honor of the Jurrassian revolutionist Alex Le Rouge. Enjoy this wonderful Cuvée at about 10°-12° Celsius (50°-53°F), with a crunch of bitter Chocolate or a Cigar. Cuvée Alex Le Rouge can be sequestrated for a few years in a cellar. Ingredients: water, barley malts, hops, cane sugar, yeast, Serawak pepper, Russia tea, Bourbon vanilla.

330ml Bottle: Aroma of dark malts, pepper, ash, slight tobacco, slight tea, slight roasting, and slight vanilla. Poured black in color with a very large, dense, rocky, brown head that greatly diminished but lasted throughout. Opaque. Slightly sparkling. Flavor is lightly sweet. Tastes of tart fruit, dark malts, slight pepper, light vanilla, light roasting, slight caramel, and slight tea. Medium body. Slightly chalky texture. Soft carbonation. Acidic, roasted, light caramel finish is a little chalky. 10+%ABV is well hidden.

At my place with Taylor after work on a Thursday. Pours black with sparkly grey fizzy head. Aroma is mild musky tartness, tree bark, some tannic brown sweetart. Taste is big vinegar, tart tree bark, musky dirt, very earthy with mild tartness that comes in the form of vinegar favors. Finish is long and musky vinegar.

300 ml swing top bottle 2008 vintage poured a clear dark reddish brown with a small lasting creamy tan head. Aromas of dark fruit, roasted malt, tea, vanilla and light pepper. Palate was light bodied and smooth. Flavors of tea, roasted malt, fruitiness and light pepper with a smooth lingering fruity finish.

Small off-white head with spotted lacing. Coca-cola colored. Nose is ashes, Carambar. Bitter at first and lasting in the aftertaste. Heavy body. Fizzy. Sour. Peppery. I am not getting the tea and vanilla that much. ABV well hidden. All over the place.

Aroma: smokey toasted malts, coffee. Appearance: black, medium creamy head. Taste: medium sweet. Palate: bitters appearing quickly, coffee ANC roasted flavours again, long-finish, dry. Overall: decent Imperial Stout, but doesn’t stand out. Bottle from Drinks of the World, Zurich.

Bottle, 33cL. Batch 2013. Home. A black brown beer with a medium beige head. Medium persistence. Fruity aroma (red berries), pepper, toast and vanilla in the end. Bitterness is medium to heavy in the end. Complex but accessible because light sweetness always underlines bitterness. Medium body. Sweet texture. Soft carbonation. Long heavy bitter finish. Warming notes. Great experience ! Last beer of the night...

An interesting beer, very sour. Pours a deep red with a tan head. Smells sweet. Taste is definitely cuvee, fruity with some wine, and a very sour finish. Had on tap at La Trappe ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
