Silver medal at Soleure’s extreme beer fest 2007. An extreme black beer whose nose goes toward pepper, vanilla, ashes, tobacco and fresh hops. It reaches the palate all in softness, but quickly becomes intensely bitter, though not very dry. Long and satisfying finish.
This Cuvée was created in the honor of the Jurrassian revolutionist Alex Le Rouge. Enjoy this wonderful Cuvée at about 10°-12° Celsius (50°-53°F), with a crunch of bitter Chocolate or a Cigar. Cuvée Alex Le Rouge can be sequestrated for a few years in a cellar. Ingredients: water, barley malts, hops, cane sugar, yeast, Serawak pepper, Russia tea, Bourbon vanilla.

Bottle. [Great two day tasting session @ Papsoe] Huge light brown thick and creamy head that mostly lasted. Good display of lacework. Muddy black like color. Aroma of light sweet chocolate and coffee. Light fruit. Over the palate some wood, roasted malt, dried fruit. Medium to full bodied with an average carbonation and somewhat alcoholic and thick texture. Moderated to heavy sweet flavor with some bitter notes. Roasted malt and light chocolate finish.

Pours dark black with a small tan head, light penetrates easily, unfiltered. Smells bitter, roasted malts, some notes of vanilla and pepper. Medium bodied mouth-feel that hides a the decent level of carbonation, Weird mix of flavors, tea gives a nice, cool mouth-feel elements of pepper and vanilla on there. Strong bitter malt hides the high abv cool and worth trying at a more reasonable price than I got it for.

Wunderschönes dunkles rouge. Vielfältige Fruchtaromen, Kakao, Kaffee. Super ausgewogen süss-sauer-bitter. Herrlich langer Abgang. Ein Superbier.

Pours a deep black color, topped with a generous beige colored head. Mild aroma of roasted malts, some coffee notes, later on some pleasant caramel and chocolate. Taste starts sweet, slightly fruity and with some chocolate notes. Bittery finish, mild. Very nice, mild and drinkable.

On tap at Saint-Bock. Pours a nice black with a thin beige head that leaves nice lacing. Nose is of dark fruits infused chocolate. Taste is of dark fruits, chocolate and lightly spicy. Body is medium, carbonation too and I felt that it drank pretty easy. Overall a good but atypical imperial stout.

BOTTLE 33 CL from CH-303. Look: almost opaque black, beige frothy head. Aroma: intense, hoppy, "green", herbal/peppery, citrus/lemony and hints of cloves. Light alcohol notes. Very little black malts and some light fruity notes at the very end. Taste: again full of hoppy, peppery flavours, zesty and lemony, totally overwhelming the roast and sweetness of a stout. Light astringent acidity, zesty/peppery bitterness in the finish. Easy drinking body.

A unique and somewhat bizarre stout, roughly in the Belgian style, with "green" flavours totally dominating the malts.

Pours a very dark black-ruby, with a very thin, fleeting head. Aromas of malt, roast, vanilla, and chocolate. Taste is sweet over bitter over salty-umami. A great sour finish with the tea. Dry too. A beer that quenches as you slowly sip along. Quite an achievement.
