3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured from bottle into wine-styled glass. Aroma is a little funky/sour with some bourbon vanilla hints. Dark brown color with small tan head. Taste is very unique. Getting hints of funk, sour, bourbon, vanilla, and herbal-ness of the added tea. Smooth mouthfeel with light carbonation. Overall a very unique interesting beer. Wasn’t what I was quite expecting for an imperial stout, but good all around.

Pours like a cloudy brown ale. Sweet bown sugar and spicy aroma. Roasted malt and spicy pepper flavor. Overall, a nice complex brew that i would purchase again.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
(33 cl swingtop from Chez Clem) Pours dark brown with tan head. Good retention and lace. Aroma has a tart main note that is somehow accentuated with toffee, roasted malt and vanilla. Oily texture, medium carbonation, medium body and a tart, slightly roasted finish. Flavour is slightly tart and slightly sweet. Ok but doesnt do anything for me. Abv is well hidden.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Not usually a fan of this style, but I really enjoyed this beer. A little bit of funkiness mixed in nicely with the deep Russian Imperial Stout. Deep roasted malts with leather and ashes as well as dark cherries. Definitely a good beer for someone who might not like sours as much but wants to try them.

3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Fruity bouquet of black cherries. Pours a dark brown. First taste is thin, fruity, hoppy. Flavour deepens as you drink, but remains a little too jumbled.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Dark brown pour with a light tan head. Aromas of sweet malts and fruit. Flavor is big fruit notes upfront with notes of brown sugar and molasses. The abv is well-hidden too. I wouldn’t call this an imperial stout though. Drinks a lot more like a belgian strong/quad. A tasty beer regardless, very complex and very good.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Embrouille - thank you so much! Batch 2013 - Extreme. Pours cloudy darkish copper brown with airy but stable light beige head. Clear aroma of fruit and hops, with notes of malt and caramel. Sweetish, malty taste, with a good deal of fruity and caramellish notes and a decent load of hops. Warming alcohol presence. Good, bittersweet finish. A very nice beer, indeed, but I find it hard to figure out why it is categorised as Imperial Stout. It has got absolutely nothing to do with it, neither the taste, nor the aroma, not even the appearance. It is like something between a Belgian Strong Ale and a Quadrupel. Very good, but not a Stout, Imperial or not.

Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Thanks to Leighton. Opaque dark brown beer with a small pale tan head. Palate is minerally crisp. Flemish red sourness with dark fruits and a little lactose. Light finish. Didn’t pick up the extra additives here.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle cheers to Leighton. Pours black with a small beige head. Nose is heavy sultana, light funk, liquorice and orange zest. Odd but entertaining and works well. Taste shows heavy fruits - date, fig, stewed raisins. Caramel comes out with lemon zest and tangy orange with a hint of spice and a peppery finish. Very solid although quite odd
