Bottled, thanks Bov! Cloudy amber, lively firm head. yeasty spicy Oravlish nose. Dry with sparkling mouthfeel. medium bodied wtih plenty of floral herbal hops and spices. Fruity and full of life, fresh and hoppy. Like a spicier mix of Orval and De Ranke XX. A masterpiece!

UPDATED: FEB 26, 2009 Bottled 75cl. I bought this beer at Profi Drink in Aarau, Switzerland. It pours a beautiful hazy dark amber beer with a nicely lasting average sized light beige head which leaves a good lacework. Aroma. Orange peel, sage, cork, blackcurrant, lemon peel, quinces, vanilla and grapefruit. Wonderful hop profile. Decent sourness. Woody and vinous. Perfectly balanced. Fantastic. I could spend hours sniffing this beer. Flavor and palate. Complex, woody, vinous and rather bitter. Wonderfully hoppy, nicely sour with hints of lemon peel, sage, quinces and grapefruit. Exquisitely peppery. Perfectly balanced. Some licorice and aniseed in the finish which is rather bitter and fruity. Overall impression. An excellent, beautiful, complex and sublime beer. Incredibly good. This beer is just up my street. Wonderful in every way and outstanding.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 ggaughan (99) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, LUXEMBOURG - MAR 1, 2009
750 bottle obtained in a trade from Switzerland from Bov. Thanks for the great trade Bov!
Bottle says that it is "just slightly bitter and very fruity".
Beer poured dark amber, nearly brown clear body with a medium off white head. The aroma was slightly bitter with some sour tones as well. The taste is equally pleasing with bitterness on the tongue, some fruit notes, maybe peach. There is also a touch of pepper. There is also a woody character and a vinous quality to this beer as well. Another winner from BFM.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 nearbeer (2651) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - FEB 14, 2009
750 ml, big thanks to Allen! The label indicates 6% abv and best by Nov. 2012. Orange-amber with an enduring half-inch of creamy bubbles. Aroma is spicy dried wood, citrus peel, earthy leaves, clove and apples. Flavor is all the same mix with some light sourness. Additional oak and resin make a nice dry finish. Medium body is creamy smooth. Interesting and dangerously drinkable brew. Tastes sorta like a top notch English-style strong ale (Fullers 1845 for example), or an ESB, that has been oak-aged and soured a bit. Beautiful lacing left behind.

The bottle looks really, really good, the beer in the glass very zippy, modest turbid, very creamy head. Starts very fruity with notes of raisins, very fresh, modest sourish. Reminds of a spontaneous fermented beer for a moment. Finish a bit drier. Very drinkable and good beer! Big thanks to Allen for that bottle!

Bottle No.276. Murky dark orange/brown coloured, medium sized off-white head that went away slowly, malty spicy nose with notes of caramel. Moderate malty, fruity and yeasty with notes of spices and caramel. Also quite hoppy. Bitter and slight acidic finish and aftertaste. Interesting and very nice brew.

UPDATED: APR 5, 2011 2010-05-06, blind tasting at Yespr, 5-4-5-2-9=25 Cloudy light amber color; creamy head. The aroma smells bad, manure. Dry mouthfeel, dry caramel flavor, with earthy touch, manure; yeast; astringent in the end. Not nice.
2008-11-23, courtesy of Philippe (Bov), 7-5-7-4-15=38 Cloudy dark amber color; big head, creamy. It has a harsh aroma, quite typical for BFM, with a sourish character, woody, maybe fruity too (bitter citrus fruits, bergamot), cork, Belgian style yeast. The promised fruity character is more evident in the flavor, but surpassed by the BFM character: very bitter and lightly sour, yeasty; there is caramel flavor too, medium sweet; bitter oranges; a pleasant touch of black and white pepper. The final has a strong bitterness. Not an easy beer. Very good.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Quack-Duck (5921) - Down South, GERMANY - JAN 1, 2010
bottle, kindly donated by allen - Herzlichen Dank! Hazy/cloudy amber colour with a large beige head, partly creamy and partly fluffy. Very fruity nose. Medium-bodied with a good malty base and lots of fruity-spicy flavours, also shy flavours of bitter orange in the background. Tropical fruit mixed with berries, combined with pleasantly spicy hops that add citrusy hints. A fine beer to accompany the fondue chinoise on New Year’s Eve. Danke, Allen!
