A calm pour produces a towering crown atop a cloudy, bronze-orange body. Warm and inviting aroma of cinnamon and red apples. Almost a visceral holiday ambience. Dusty, with a sweet mash of browned bananas with a little warmth. Similar in taste. Crisp, almost papery apple peels – warm in tone like a heavy cider mulled with nutmeg and other brown spices. Grainy, earthy, with skins of pecans and walnuts. Just a hint of sweetness. Comparable to Malbec. Woody, tart and bitter in the mouth – quite dry. Fairly light texture, though lasting. Interesting. Fantastic interplay. Thanks for sharing, Jason!

Bottle from Vendome Cahuenga & Riverside. Tart nose. Color is great creamy brown with tan head. Flavor is tart yeast, brown malt, nice funk. Very mild hops at most. Distinctly Belgian.

Cask. Pours hazy brown with a big rich off-white head. Aroma is cheesey hops, herbs, funk, and light citrus. Flavor is slightly tart with citrus and floral hops and a caramel malt. Not sure what the hell this is but I liked it.

Aroma of cocoa, licorice, caramel and scotch, Appearance is dark brown with creamy head. Flavor matches the nose, with an emphasis on the scotch. Palate is bubbly and creamy. I was surprised to see that this beer isn’t a Scotch Ale. Delicious anyway.

Bottle. Clear orange copper pour - I got the first glass off the top ;) - with pillowy white head. Aroma is pretty well dominated by lightly funky yeast notes, some peppery hops, the beer smells quite grainy as well. Barely any hop bitterness to speak of in the taste, tastes more like french biere de garde that is beginning to sour. I was actually surprised that this wasn’t any more sour than it was, we had the 2007 vintage. Palate is this beers strong point, perfectly well carbed and dry. Good beer but not mind blowing, unlike its price.

A very strange but interesing beer. The pour left a very thin head that also left a very sticky layer of lacing on the glass. Initial flavors on this one certainly come across as having some serious belgian wild yeasts. Hops come across as well, though I think its more on the aftertaste. The carbonation is very smooth, leaving behind a nice feeling on the lips. In the end, this beer really is an interesing combination of a rather sour and citrus like ale with some generous hop profile to keep the sourness at bay. Intruiging beer but not something to buy on a regular basis.

Poured a very hazy light auburn. Smells of cider and a little vinegar. Tasted like cider with vanilla and a cherry highlight at the end. The sourness is moderate and enjoyable.
