4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 eaglefan538 (2735) - Wilmington, USA - JUN 12, 2006
Poured a deep copper-orange color witha nice off-white tannish head that sustained itself very nicely. The lacing was the only weak part of the appearance. The aroma was light, some caramel and almost English fruity type notes. The flavor was comparable to a Saison-Biere de Garde blend, noble hops the strongest, nice resinous and citrus bitter factor in there. Caramel malts were present with yeast in the flavor. The very last warmer sip or two did display some alcohol warmth in the aftertaste. Overall, a moderately bodied beer, really nice (almost seemed like a French/Belgian approach to an altbier). (Don’t expect an IPA, but rather a strongly hopped and somewhat yeasty amber biere de garde.)
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 jcweaver (439) - VA Beach, Virginia, USA - MAR 31, 2012
Bottle. Pours cloudy orange with a small head. Sweet and fruity aroma with a hint of tartness. Flavor is slightly tart with fruity citrus flavors. Lacks the hop bitterness I associate with IPAs. Very metallic finish.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 thornecb (3093) - Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA - FEB 20, 2012
2007 version - not an IPA; described as a Rousse de garde. Pours slightly hazed deep dark gold into a snifter. Off-white head with medium retention recedes to nothing. Sour summer fruit aromas. Sweet caramel upfront yields to sour pit and summer fruits before the dry, lasting bitter resin finish.

I can’t explain how incredible this beer is. Huge vinous flavors with complex fruit, caramel-toffee, sour yeast and earthy subtleties. This redefines what beer can be.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 JulienHuxley (1148) - Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 16, 2011
Bottle. Clear orange copper pour - I got the first glass off the top ;) - with pillowy white head. Aroma is pretty well dominated by lightly funky yeast notes, some peppery hops, the beer smells quite grainy as well. Barely any hop bitterness to speak of in the taste, tastes more like french biere de garde that is beginning to sour. I was actually surprised that this wasn’t any more sour than it was, we had the 2007 vintage. Palate is this beers strong point, perfectly well carbed and dry. Good beer but not mind blowing, unlike its price.
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 arminjewell (3107) - Parker, Colorado, USA - AUG 3, 2011
Pour is hazy orange with white head, aroma has notes of some weird cooked veggie, maybe some cherry, some sour cabbage and fruit, some slight bready sourness to it as well. Taste is definitely better but still has notes of some weird cooked fruit, definitely an untintentional sour with some plastic, phenolic tastes. Off for sure, but could tell it could be ok in 2006.
2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20 adnielsen (3750) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - AUG 2, 2011
Bottle @ Dan’s house. Cloudy orange appearance with an off white head that disappears quickly. Dull, citrusy, white wine, dental floss nose. Mildly tart, sour, cherry, citrusy, dull hoppy flavor with some weird plastic fruit notes.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 gvmdw7 (148) - California, USA - JUN 14, 2011
Poured a very hazy light auburn. Smells of cider and a little vinegar. Tasted like cider with vanilla and a cherry highlight at the end. The sourness is moderate and enjoyable.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Koelschtrinker (7034) - Köln (Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - JUN 2, 2011
Trocken, in sehr milden Grundzügen Geuze-artig. Langer herber Ausklang mit der selben milden Würzigkeit, die schon im Antrunk in gleicher Intensität vorhanden war. Vielen Dank an den Doppelbock für den gemeinsamen Test! 8/10/9/10/11/10
