3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 omhper (15956) - Stockholm, - MAR 27, 2007
Bottled, thanks Bov! Cloudy pale amber, small head. Aroma of almondy yeast and apricot. Sweet and full bodied with solid mouthfeel. Some soap and bread, flowery and rather fruity. Similar to a De Ranke XX Bitter with it’s Belgian style yeast and rather massive hops. Drying lightly grassy finish. Good!

On cask at Moeder Lambic. Orange in colour with fairly low carbonation. Aromas are of orangey and dank hops, along with some sweet pale malts. Hoppy and citric in the mouth as well, with the pale and caramel malts supporting. Not overly bitter for an IPA. Good cask conditioned beer overall.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Cletus (6064) - Connecticut, USA - JUL 20, 2009
Pours amber with a nice white head. Smells of dry malt, noble hops, grassy, metallic. Tastes of dry malt, citrussy, sweet, some tarte lactic hints on the finish (their typical house character it seems). Enjoyable.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Storm (2685) - Amager, DENMARK - MAR 10, 2008
Blind tasting at Papsoe. Hazy golden colour with a nice white head. Aroma of vanilla, yeast and little maltness. Flavour of malt, yeast little sour and spicy. End sup bitter and some hoppy ending.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 Rastacouere (5919) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 17, 2008
Objectively speaking:
A tired hoppy Belgian ale whose hop profile has been going downhill.
I like:
Lasting white cover. Perfumey. Tropical fruitiness. Soft breadiness. Tree bark. Green herbs.
I dislike:
No freshness. Soapy (Mr. Net) Tired, dulled-out yeastiness. Astringent finish. Loose texture. 15$/750mL.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 probstblueribbon (1967) - Nepean, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 6, 2008
75 cl bottle from Bieropholie, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. 2006 edition, bottle 00276.
App.: Clear, deep golden, small off-white head.
Aroma: Tangy apricot and tropical fruits, bitter green herbs, white pepper, soft, floral perfume.
Palate: Medium-light body and soft effervescence.
Flav.: Lots of peach/apricot and tropical fruits, bitter green herbs, some light floral hops, a bit of yeast and some malt; off-dry, with a hint of tang, some bitterness and lingering fruit with a bit of alcohol.
Certainly interesting. Not what I expected from an IPA.
3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 beerbuzzmontreal (3428) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 24, 2008
Pours a hazy peach color with a medium white head. Good aroma of fruity, spicy hops with peppery yeast. Flavor of fruity, spicy hops and peppery yeast, the flavor doesn’t feel as good as the aroma. The body is medium with a creamy texture and moderate carbonation.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Boutip (3451) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 24, 2008
Bottle: Poured a light amber color ale with a huge foamy head with good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of floral hops is very intense with a nice light caramel malt base. Taste is a mix between some floral notes from the hops with a medium bitter finish and all of this is well sustained by nice light caramel malt base. Definitely an interesting take on US style of beer from an European brewer.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Glouglouburp (4773) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 23, 2008
UPDATED: FEB 19, 2008 In short: An original juicy (tangerines and such) belgian-ish IPA-ish. Soft but tasty and very refreshing. Very good.
How: Bottle, 750ml, probably 1+ year old
The look: Cloudy glowing orange with a small off-white head.
In long: Nose is floral and tangerines, a inviting bouquet. Taste is soft but flavourful. Nothing aggressive here but far from bland. Malt sweetness feels 2/3 honey 1/3 caramel. Lots of fruity notes of tangerines, mangos and such (the juicy type of desert fruits). Garden floral flavours without falling in the rose water category. Lean body but not watery. The citrusy hops are juicy, tasty but only very mildly bitter. A pleasant light acidity in the finish. Smooth carbonation. Felt very fresh despite being probably over 1 year old. This is a refreshing and tasty beer. The type of highly drinkable beer I would drink on a regular basis if it wasn’t so damn expensive in North America. Too bad Dick Cheney doesn’t drink beer to make the US army invade Switzerland to control the beer price.
