[1470-20080531] 750mL bottle. Gingersnappy pumpkin roast aroma has a light flower note. Murky, dark brown body with a quick off-white head. Warm ginger roast malt flavour. Smooth full body. Interesting but weird.

Wow....experimental beer of the evening courtesy of Butters. Cold the beer has a wonderful aroma of cinamon, molases and raisins with the flavor closely following. Thick chewy mouthfeel with a sweet honey finish and some lingering spice. Warmed the beer thins a bit and picks up some citrusy sourness along with more ginger and a bit more roast. Very interesting. Would make a great winter warmer.

Champaign bottle, capped. Pours near black with large-bubble brown thin head. Initial aroma is PUMPKIN PIE. Huge anise aroma with molasis, raisins, and very sweet. Lots of cinnamin and nutmeg flavors. Sweet honey finish. That was for the chilled version. After heating the beer, the aroma and flavor mellowed out. Dissapointing. Overall, if the the flavor and body and aroma of the cold beer, could have been transfered to the hot version without being thinned out, i would have scored this in the high three’s.

UPDATED: FEB 15, 2010 Bottle at Mekong’s Beer tasting with Jerome on 01/20/2010. Served warm. Clear dark brown body with a small tan head. Sweet caramel, molasses, and fruit aroma. Sweet molasses, fruit, and dark caramel flavor. Medium full body with moderate carbonation. 7/4/7/4/16 - 3.8 6/17/2008 - 7/5/7/3/15 - 3.7 From fridge: Dark black body with a very thin frothy light brown head. Big spice aroma, cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin pie, light raisin and molassas. Big pumpkin pie, nutmeg, ginger, cinnamon, flavors, light molassas in the background and a honey finish. Full body with low carbonation. Warmed: More cinnamon aroma, ginger, the rest of the previous aroma is fairly muted. More light cinnamon and ginger flavors, the pumpkin flavors have dissipated. Body is thinner with the added heat. Overall, the cold version seems more complex and favorable.

In short: A sickening spicy candy syrupy mess. A failed daring attempt at something.
How: 750ml bottle, about 6 months old
The look: Clear very very dark red body (almost brown) with not head.
In long: Lots and lots of spices with nutmeg and cinnamon upfront and quite a bit of Peppermint and red liquorice and some red grapes. All that mixed like mixed with some kind of extra-sweet pumpkin ale. Totally flat carbonation. Gross. Sickening before the end of a single glass. I had a first glass chilled and it was terrible. Brewer recommends to drink it warm. So I warmed up the rest of the bottles and I had another glass. Same crap. Drain poured the rest. I don’t feel like there was anything wrong with my bottle. One of the worst non-problematic/non-infected beer I’ve ever had, and I use the term “beer” very loosely. No redeeming qualities. And to think how much I paid for this atrocity… and unlike those into “fine-arts” I’m not proud of it.

2008-05-31. I apparently caused a ruckus by pulling out the beer from the fridge that needed to be warmed up, I had no idea. Sorry! Hazy dark brown headless body. (3+) Sweet spicy pumpkin pie like aroma. Nutmeg? Gingerbread? (8+) Sweet base flavour with sharp spicy character, ginger and nutmeg? Spice is stronger and less subtle than in the aroma, and a bit less pleasing as a result. (7+) Smooth average to medium palate. (3+) Quite interesting but gets to be a bit much by the end of it. Look forward to this during the holidays. It gets me out of the barleywines and imperial stouts and breaks up the mononity of the season. Has all the classic spices in the nose and just give you a pleasant warming feeling when you drink it, sitting near a fire watching it snow outside. Kind of a sugar cookie maltiness with lots of cinnamon spices. I do not like this in large amounts, but like I said a bottle of this thrown in for spice works well during the winter months.

Pours deep brown into a mug. No head. Alcohol and cinnamon aromas. Flat caramel and spices with a lasting bitter finish. Pumpkin pie spices. Never had anything like it. Tastes like mulled cider and gameldansk.

From a 750mL Bottle. Served at cellar temperature. Somewhat hazy, dark brown colored pour with some lighter cedar bark hues and a thin layer off-white head. An aroma of freshly baked pecan pie jumps out right away - cinnamon, nutmeg, nutty malt, brown sugar, caramel, praline - mouthwatering. Some woody coconut husks and raisin fruits linger more subtly beneath the spice characters. Medium bodied, lightly carbonated mouthfeel. Solid, but the flavors don’t impress nearly as much as the nose. Lots of cinnamon and nutmeg spice, along with some husky coconut, pecan skins, and mild chocolate malt. Moderately dry, slightly astringent finish with lingering spices.
