COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

pours cloudy pale yellow with a very nice frothy white head, good retention and lacing. very spicy - pepper, sage, cardamom, lemon zest, violets - quite floral in fact. bit of wheat acidity and nice bready pale malts. moderate to low carbonation - tad missing, light body, very spicy and herbal finish. interesting..

Bottle from Embrouille - thank you! Pours cloudy light amber or full yellow with airy but stable white head. Complex aroma of hops, malt, citrus, vine, yeast and spices. Bitter, hoppy flavour, with clear notes of citrus, estery and malty touches, and hints of sage. Well-balanced and enjoyable. A decent S/H/V.

Bottle from Allen, thanks! Nice and strange, full bodied brew. A quasi-witbier spiced with sage? Count me in! Especially since the citrus and coriander are championed by the sage, which makes this beer resemble a fine Alpine gruit. The beginning is wit-like, while the finish is herbal, slightly minty and very bitter. The dichotomy between the soft beginning and the sharp herbal finish works very well. Very nice!

Gyllengul öl med ett kraftfullt vitt skum. Den örtiga kryddigheten tar överhand i både doft och smak och blir aningen för mycket. Balanseras inte av den citrus och ingefära som också finns i smaken.

33cl fliptop, merci Allen! - yet another technically masterfully executed spice-attack on a perfectly balanced Belgian Witbier recipe. Base is in itself a pleasing enough honey-frontal wit with some citrus, a far relative of Dupont’s biere de miel. BUT: as I had no scallopine milanese at hand to foodpair this with, I had no use for the sage and challenge anyone to sense a dire lack of sage in their beer.
BFM for me so far: Belgian beer goes marché paysan, beer goes spice bath, beer goes foot bath. Forget the Germany-US beer divide, the true frontier is at the Germanic-Romanic divide in CH and B...
