Tap at Belgian Cafe in Philly. Pours hazy blonde with a thick white head that lasts and clings to.the glass nicely. Spicy aroma, herbal, sage is definitely noticeable, also some lemon, yeast. Light bodied, refreshing, bit taste is a bit bland. Just a hint of alcohol, wouldn’t guess that its 8.5% though. Solid.

Ordentlich.Test vom 8.5.2011, Gebinde: Glasflasche

330ml bottle (Bierkompass.de)
6 Fresh crisp and sharp saisony aroma, quite honey-like, and with lychee.
3 Slightly hazy wheaty yellow colour, has some sinky bits, which turn me off rather.
6 Again, a sharp saisony body, quite herbal and grassy. No hint of 6%.
3 Sharp palate, pleasant carbonation. Finish has a biting spiky bitter hoppy bite.
11 Quirky saison, not really selling itself to me. Sharpness not necessarily an indication this is pointing in the right direction, I wouldn’t be surprised if this could turn into a gusher, and that’s a quality issue.

This beer has a welcome sweetness that balances the herbal medicinal quality nicely. A unique beer.

Brewed in the Swiss mountains. From the exploseive pop of the brown belgian-styled flip top bottle the liqud goodness of this brew emanated to the mouth of the bottle, but I poured it into my Duvel tulip glass quickly with an uncontrollable white head with tons of brown bits in it. THe head recedes rather quickly to a froth atop the beer leavng some ornate lacing. The beer s a murky cider-like color with a nice cache of goodies sitting in the bottom of the glass. This one smells amazing, there are hints of lemon lime, apple peel, sourness, a hint of woodsy pine, fruity, yeast twang, and a nice blast of sage. The sage smells very fragrant and perfumey. There is a little bit of alcohol burn in the nose but not overt. The body is smooth but well-carbonated, in fact some pretty exceptional mouthfeel overall. The taste is very bold and has some tartness and spice that melts into a smooth sage and malty finish. Not really sure how to describe the taste on this one, it is just a smooth easily palatable flavor, yet it has some tang and sourness. The alcohol is more apparent as you go but not overt. Overall this is a unique brew that should be tried at least once and savored Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 12-11-2009 02:30:24
