Aroma: caramel, gingerbread, butter; Appearance: pale, amber, cloudy, minimal head; Taste: slightly sweet, slightly bitter, slightly sour; Palate: medium body, oily feel, soft carbonation, long finish Nothing special. Alex Porter from the same brewery is much better. I drink Paulaner Salvator when I want to get the same bockish taste but without this much butter :-)

Dark brown body. Interesting aroma mixing cookie malts, wholewheat grains, and roasted notes with dried fig like sweetness and some balancing resin and woody hops. Taste is different than your usual Belgian brown ale too, with a drier and more cookie like taste. Over the length of the bottle you get a bit used to this so it looses some appeal, yet still there is a herbal bitterness to keep it all in pace and enjoyable. Good brew, charismatic and nicely spiced. (33cl bottle gifted by the Au Bon Coin owner, many thanks!)

Bottle from AndrewC who picked this up in or near Verbier and I drank at home. Very dark brown colour lasting beige head. Some esters on aroma, some dark brown malty aroma. Quite fruity in the mouth, like plums and figs. Decent Belgian Ale. Pretty authentic. Nice enough. Some peppery hop on the finish. OK.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein minimal trübes rötlichbraunes Bier mit schöner Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr malzig süß, alkoholisch, belgische Hefe. Geschmack sehr malzig alkoholisch, fruchtig, würzig

Bottle: Aroma is fruity, sourly with currants and plums. Notes of roasted malt and chocloate. Dark brown, nearly black color with a lot of yeast particles inside. Brownish creamy head. Flavor with malt, roastiness, dark chocolate, sourly fruit notes of black currants, plums, cherries. Herbal hop bitterness and some roastiness in the end. Decent.

Thin beige head over dark reddish brown beer. Low intensity aroma of yeast, dark fruit and herbs, something meaty and barnyardy. Less than hoped on the palate, oily heavyish and near flat carbonation. Roast coffee, caramel some malty sweet spice, very faint sourness, ok hops bitterness balance, and a medium length somewhat monotonous finish. It has qualities but for my taste not lively nor complex enough for this style.
