Bottle @ Brugmansia/Fonefan Tasting, June 2010. Pours unclear amber with a red hew and a small creamy white head. Nose is yeast, dark fruit and berries. Tart and dry flavor. Quite rough/harsh.

A dark Belgian ale with plenty of spice and fruit character. Hints of prunes and christmas spices this has a slight sour zing that lifts the palate and drives the beer flavour.

Shared bottle at local tasting. Pours a clear deep chestnut colored body with a creamy, short lived film of light brown color. Aroma like a regular Heinz tomato ketchup. Acidic and light fruity flavors and bitter. Smooth to drink. Medium body. Dry tongue.

330 ml shared swingtop bottle, at local tasting. ABV 7.5%. Murky brown colour (end of bottle), low off-white head. Unusual and strong aroma, notes of yeast, spices, over-ripe fruits and caramel. Very fruity flavour, moderate acidity, okay but not particularly exciting.

Shared bottle at local tasting. Pours clear mahoganey with a small creamy white head. Aroma of Heinz ketchup, overwhelming everything else. Taste is sour, tart and dry. Better taste than aroma.

Pour a light white head that fades away. The nose is plum with warm spices, clove, cinnamon. Sweet smell with red fruit. The color is a cloudy beige color. The flavor starts with a sour beer then moves onto a sweet plum and grape flavor with a hints of carmel and raisin. Then a refreshing tartness and finishing with a bitter hoppiness. The flavor that lingers on your palette is the plum/grape flavor. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma is plum, rhubarb, cinnamon, hint of sour apple and lavender. Colour is a cloudy burnt orange. Taste is very interesting - good balance of sweet and sour - sour plums, green apple, rhubarb, spices. Reasonably complex on the palate, nice slightly sour finish.

Brown color with a good off-white head. Sweet fruity aroma. Weird and special taste with some citrus. Very high carbonated.

33cl bottle, tulip glass. Pours a cloudy medium brown, with a medium beige head. Smells of plums and spice, slightly sour. Tastes... weird. Extremely interesting, but I just can’t identify it beyond a sweet tartness. Pleasantly "round" on the tongue, and just kind of slips away. Slight fruity tartness lingers.

(bottle) brown colour, hazy with a lot of cloggy sediment. Aroma and taste are unusual. Very spicy and a little sour. Light to medium bitterness as well, no sweetness or malty taste. Barnyardy notes. Would not have guessed plums, cloves and cinnamon, but spices: indeed! Reminds me very strongly of that typical spicy and tart Orval character that becomes stronger with ageing. Here it is even too pronounced, but still: an interesting beer worth trying, when you are in the mood for it.

33 cL brown swing top bottle, bought at Drinksoftheworld. Aroma: Light sour character, funky, notes of wood. Light sweetness. Appearance: Amber, tan creamy head, nice CO2 bubbles, dull. Taste: Spicy, sour (like acetic acid), wine character, wood notes, light note of fruits (cant say what exactly). Really complex aroma! Palate: Lively carbonation, medium body, short-medium sweet and sour aftertaste. Overall: Amber beer with a lot of funky notes. Wood and wine character present. I really enjoyed this one and is one of my favorite beers. In my opinion the sour character makes it very easy drinkable. I would definitely order a third one!
