BATS: Bière ambrée au Tarry Suchong. Brassée avec différents malts fumés et du thé fumé chinois. L’idée de cette ale fumée m’est venue en visitant une mine d’asphalte, l’odeur caverneuse fut alors retranscrite dans son bouquet. C’est une bière plutôt maltée en bouche, par contre, la phase aromatique se dévoile beaucoup plus sophistiquée, mêlant la délicate touche des divers niveaux de fumé avec une pointe de tanins, avec une belle persistance aromatique

Was not expecting a lovely little sour when I saw the Tarry Suchong on the label. Mild smoke/tea on the nose with a light brown/amber appearance. Sour forward taste with a hint of the earthy tea following. Nice.

Ambrée. Mousse beige. Nez fruité, un peu terreux, herbes sèches. Bouche d’herbes fumées, très sèche, mince, pétillante. Un verre de dégustation, pas davantage. Finale très courte. Drôle de bière mais je ne déteste pas l’expérience.

Bottle, 75cl corked. As BATS, at Haand Festival 2014. It pours an unclear, dark golden body under an off-white head. The aroma is lightly smoked, with a hint of peat. Dried apricotes and a touch of tea too. Quite subtle flavor with peat smoke, dried fruits and a light malty touch. Not much bitterness detected, but as in the aroma there’s some tea here, lasting for a good while. Dry and full-bodied. An unusual one indeed, but nice anyway. 140524

Rating #2000. Bottle from Table and Vine. Amber with red hue lasting beige fizzy fluffy head and lace. Mild aroma of fruit funk wood leather smoke and tea. Mild fruity sweetness with hints of woody nuts plenty of smoke, especially as it warms funky farmhouse leather woody finish. Medium light body. Low internal carb, most of the carb seeps out through the fizzy head, but the texture is nice and soft. Excellent. Yay me.

Un verre en fût au Saint-Bock sous le nom BATS. Une bière ambrée avec une mousse beige. Un nez intense de fumée, de moule fumé. La bouche est peu complexe car dominée par la fumée. Une curiosité qui est pour le moins étonnante.

Bottle. Hazy amber body with white head. Aroma is some malts some floral notes and hints of smoke. Taste is some yeast with some malts and some herbs. Aftertaste malty with some tea. O. K.

Erzengel (5641) - Wuppertal, GERMANY - OCT 28, 2014
Ein «Cuvée unique» ohne Namen, gebraut am 12. März 2008. Zutaten: Wasser, Gerstenmalz, Rauchmalz, Hopfen, Zucker, Rauchtee, Hefe.
Orangetrüb im Glas, aromahopfig-frischer Geruch. Der Antrunk ist säuerlich-mild, hopfenaromatisch und leicht hefig. Zum Hauptteil kommt eine ganz leichte rauchige Note hinzu, die säuerliche Frische hält sich lange. Erst im Nachgeschmack wird der SChwarztee deutlich, vor allem im trocken-schwarztee-typischen Abklang. Dabei eine leichte Rauchtee-Note, wie ich sie vom Tarry Suchong aus dem Teeladen her kenne. Allerdings sehr sehr verhalten und das Rauchmalz ist nirgends zu schmecken. Ansonsten findet sich im Nachgeschmack eine angenehm hopfenaromatische, aber kaum herbe Note wieder, dazu leicht säuerlich und hefig-frisch.
→ interessantes Bier, aber irgendwie auch nichts Herausragendes. Schade – vielleicht hätte es frischer besser geschmackt – MHD sind genau 2 Jahre – und die sind jetzt fast rum. Trotzdem mal interessant zum Probieren! 11/12/10/11

From a bottle. Thanks jheath99! Pours hazy copper with a bubbly off white head. Smells like musky grapes, raisins, light earth, and smokey wood. Tastes like light raisin, earth, grapes, and smoke.
