Was not expecting a lovely little sour when I saw the Tarry Suchong on the label. Mild smoke/tea on the nose with a light brown/amber appearance. Sour forward taste with a hint of the earthy tea following. Nice.

Aroma: malty and lightly smoky; Appearance: hazy amber pour with lots of particulates suspended; Taste: follows nose; smokiness almost too much, but seems okay; Palate medium-heavy body with long, sweet finish; Overall: better than expected but still not a preferred style. Would not get again.

July 2016 - Bottle share at Craft Beer Co Islington as ’BFM BATS’. Many thanks to Matteo! Very dark brown, hazy and opaque, foamy dense tan head. Aroma is toffee, light smoke, some demerara, soured fruits. Body is smooth, soft carbonation, maybe a touch frothy. Taste is caramel, earth, toffee, quite watery, some smoke. A bit thin. OK.

Bottle shared at Craft Beer Co. Islington - many thanks to Mattie Oh. Pours unclear orange-gold with a frothy, off-white head. The nose holds doughy bread, light toffee, faint orange. Light to medium sweet flavour with more bread, toasted sugars, dough, light hammy smoke. Light bodied with average carbonation. Moderately sweet on the finish, with further toasted bread, light toffee, smoke, candied ham. Novel, for sure. Not bad on the whole.

The taste is bitter, rich, brown bread, smoked malt, earthy, ginger, citrus peel, pear, apple, wood and light alcohol warmth on the back end. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Quite interesting and quaffable.
