Was not expecting a lovely little sour when I saw the Tarry Suchong on the label. Mild smoke/tea on the nose with a light brown/amber appearance. Sour forward taste with a hint of the earthy tea following. Nice.

Certainly interesting... Tea, smoke, sweet malt, yeast, a touch of funk. I like it... but doubt I’ll have it again.

Bottle. Pours slightly hazy gold orange with big off-white head. Some stringy lacing. Aroma is smoky, herbal, sweet, toffee and caramelized sugar. Flavor is smoky, caramelized sugar and malt, with an herbal, tea finish. Flavor is interesting, big tones of smoke and tea, unique. Soft carbonation, medium body, and a juicy, smooth texture.

Must have gotten an old bottle. amber pour almost no head or carbonation. Syrupy vinegar with tea. Couldn’t finish it.

Bottle. Pours a hazy red-brown with a high, soft, fine-grained head. Nose is phenols, smoke, tea, and savory notes. More smoke and tea on the tongue; it’s very well integrated, the Lapsang Souchong playing well to the strengths of the dark fruit sweetness and heaviness of the base ale. Finish is long and warm, with slightly boozy notes. Different, and very good.

Smoky (of course) with some caramel and lingering notes of black tea. Tasty but not a beer I would search for again.

Bottle. Sampling session at Lefty’s place. Light smoke, funk, and sugary aroma. Copper color. Smokey malt, salty vegetables, metallic notes, and finishes mild and sweet. Medium body. Pleasant, light fruit flavors, and mild smoke combine to make a pleasant experience.

At a tasting at KyotoLefty’s place. An amber-orange pour with a beige head with a funky, farmhouse, barnyard pungeant aroma with a bit of peatiness. A nice full body reveals funky, earthy, smokey and slight metallic notes. These guys make good beers not a disappointing one in the bunch!

Big bottle. Smoky, peaty, caramel, light chocolate, light vegetables. Cloudy orange-brown, lace. Some Belgian like yeasty spice. Clean, amber malts, earthy yeast and hop, light smoke. A special Belge with a bit ofmsmoke. Nice. Not mind-blowing like some of their others.
