JorisPPattyn (4247), Antwerpen, Belgium Apr 20, 2003 Made for the Nice microbrewer Rubens. Brewed in 2000, Bbdate 2004. Br. de Silly has a witbier, Titje blanche, also sold as blanche de Bruxelles, but that is given for 4.7 ABV only?
Pale golden, even orangey shine. No wheat haze? Medium white head. Nose of vermouth, coriander, curaçao, herbal, chalk, walnuts. Very spicey taste: coriander, woodruff, citruspeel. Very little sweetness, nearly no tartness. Strange, this beer is a lot more complex than witbier usually is, even de Silly’s Titje, Blanche de Bruxelles… Mouthfeel is quite dry, again vermouth-like. The perfumed dryness keeps dominating the aftertaste. First impression of this beer is refreshing, but then the dryness kicks in and keeps kicking. I wonder what that gives at 30°C at the Côte d’Azur…
