UPDATED: JUN 30, 2010 Bottle 75cl. Brown cloudy ale with small head. Smell is cherry like and hoppy. Aroma of roasted malts, almost smoked malt, a bit sour. It’s like it was kept in a sherry barrel. Begining is very hoppy as the final is long and a bit acid, dry. This beer is neer Oude bruin style more than Stout, taste is with a Duchesse de Bourgogne you will see ..

Draught @ Hop, Viale Regina Margherita, Milano, Italy.
Unclear medium brown color with a average, creamy, good lacing, fully to mostly lasting, light beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, toffee, light to moderate yeasty, english licorice. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, dry. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20091111]

Malty aroma. Very full flavour, some sourness. More of an old ale than a stout, I’d say, the bar menu just calls it brown. Dark fruit, balsamico.

Part of 3 sampler, 10 cl poured into a white wine glass at Birra Artigianale di Qualita in Milan. Smells like chestnuts/warm pecans. Great lace. Dark brown/ruby color. Wouldn’t call it a stout, much watered down, no bite/heft in the body/palate.

[Draught] English Brown ale in the BI-DU interpretation, hoppy, roasted, almost a stout but for the colour. Could have a smoother palate.

Draught Red highlights in dark brown beer with a small, persistent, yellowish-brown head. Again very hoppy nose as is usual with Bi-Du. Some roastiness, which in the taste, makes me imagine (lightly) roasted hops... There is quite some restsweetness, but held completely in check by the roastiness. Bitter toffee, anyone? Quite well bodied, very slick, restsugars helping the body. Sweetish, but thanks to the good hosp, a quite near stoutlike "brune".

Draught at the brewpub
Dark brown color; thick creamy head. Nice aroma of roasted malts and malt. Good malty taste, very good structure, strong caramel and roasted malt character, light liquorice. Quite strong final.
