2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Beershine (4712) - The Sunshine State, USA - NOV 26, 2009
Bottle, numerous. Yellow-gold with decent white head retention. Aroma is a tad sulfuric at first but then mellows into earth, grass, and a surprising dose of aromatic hops! Clean, innocuous palate makes it very drinkable. Thin finish. Watery but clean, dry. Goes down really well and became an easy favorite Viet pale later.
1.1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 5/20 solidfunk (650) - Ontario, CANADA - AUG 2, 2011
Third beer in Vietnam so far and it’s third worst - haven’t tasted the best yet... like huda. A little less sour aftertaste. Had in a bottle in Hue.
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Oakes (10184) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 11, 2009
Golden with nice sparkle, thin head. The aroma is grassy with a hint of minty herbalness and light pale malt background. Acceptable bitterness - the only of Hue brewery’s three beers to show any. Grassy notes and clean but faint malts. Finishes relatively dry...relatively. For a macro its tolerable, but you’ll be wishing for a brewpub in Hue.
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 voota (765) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - MAR 27, 2008
This is so similar to Huda beer. Maybe a touch sweeter if thats even possible, maybe a little less scrappy too. I dunno, I guess it’s plain enough to be ok. Serve cold.
1.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 Theis (9217) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - MAR 28, 2007
Bottle at "Stop & Go Cafe" in Hué. Clear yellow - white head. Corn, sweetness, white bread, egg, peas, smooth, not much of anything though !!
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 strings (377) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - OCT 9, 2006
UPDATED: OCT 12, 2006 Bottle in Vietnam. Bit more flavour than your average Vietnamese lager. Lives up to its name at least, in that there is at least some sort of event going on inside this bottle. Herbs and spices and fruits are all invited, and seem to get on pleasantly enough. Full bodied with an ok finish.
