2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
My buddy brought this can back from Vietnam as a tasting gift. This is a local traditional beer of over 100 years. Taste is better than your average lager. It is better tasting than expected. Great beer for a warm summer day.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
330ml can bought in Vietnam and then transported half-way round the globe. Production date is 31/08/2015. Can proudly states "UNIQUE KNOW-HOW / TRADITION OF HUNDRED YEARS" so it has to be good, right? Pours pale yellow with a white head that fizzes away in seconds. Aroma is rice, sugar, malt, and corn. Taste is grain and malt.

I do not wax on poetically about beer but I do know the quality of a beer once tasted. This review is not about my tastes but reinforces the numbers, which are arbitrary.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Can from a Hanoi convenience store. Poured a pale yellow colour with a frothy white head and plenty of bubbles. The aroma is light malt, cardboard, some hops. The flavour is moderate to light bitter with a light citrus, woody hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium to light bodied with lively carbonation. It’s not too bad. Better than many other Viet beers I’ve had. A little gassy up front but it soon died away.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
The best of Vietnam's domestic beer. Pours an ugly yellow. Smells like beer and bit of sweetness. Taste is smooth and a bit sweet. Had in the can.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Can on my flight to Hanoi taken for the tick. It pours a clear gold with a thick 1cm of foam that leaves good lacing. An earthy green hop aroma on a sugary grainy body. The taste is also very sugary with a bready graininess and minimal hoppiness. Not that terrible.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Mmmm, the walkabout Hanoi with a can resembling Malaysian Red Bull beer that did the job. Grassy nose with a cereal malt note and toasted rice in there. Light gold with no head retention but endless carbonation. Gassy and biting on the palate so shake, shake, swirl, shake goes the can/glass. Dry at the end but upfront it has a biscuity, rock cake character. Spicy with a peppercorn finish. Slight soapiness, slight tinniness but this is forgivable. Lean body and soft in flavour. Actually drinks better in the cold rains of Hanoi than the Summer humidity. Average!! (33cL, Hanoi, Vietnam)

1.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
Can. Clean and clear golden beer with minimal head. Smells quite familiar to many light lagers from around the world. Watery, light body, drinkably, malty.
