Rated on 4-09-2011 at Bier Brewery. When poured, this draft beer has a white small head with a lengthy retention, yellow body with no carbonation observed and a fair amount of lacing. The aroma is wheat malt, clove and bananas. The taste is sweet, wheat malt, bananas, and some clove. This beer’s mouthfeel is smooth and this beer is light-medium bodied. This is an easy light drinking beer, but needs more flavor.

An average hefeweizen by most accounts is par for the course for Bier Brewery. It won’t offend you with any glaring flaws; at the same time it lacks anything to differentiate itself from the hundreds of other similar beers in the style. I’d skip this one if you are at the tasting room unless it comes for free in a flight.

Aroma / Appearance - Semitransparent bronze liquid bubbles underneath a light white head. Honey and bananas rise lazily like a loaf of sweet banana nut bread cooling on the oven range.

Flavor / Palate - Banana nut bread, warm brownies, and chocolate chips are very sweet. This falls towards the earthy end of the spectrum and lacks a vibrant fruity kick. The nutty finish confirms the intentions by hanging around for a minute or two. It’s hard to pin down why it doesn’t work but this feels like it has room for improvement.

Draft to taster. Looks alright; light though, even by hefe standards. A completely transparent light gold with white lacing. Smells and tastes like a watered down hefe with a thin, average (at best) mouthfeel. One of (if not the) most unimpressive beers I’ve had from Bier.

Draft: Pours pale yellow, hazy, with a small white head. Banana...clove aroma. Tangy and tart citrus, wheat, banana flavor. Very good.

The only Hefe I’ve found that comes anywhere close to Weihenstephaner. Lots of flavor up front, with a clean finish.

Golden pour. This white head. Aroma is weak. Flavor is very weak. Thin with some Belgian notes.

Cloudy straw color with four fingers of white rocky head. Clove, lemon, and subtle wheat aromas. Clean crisp flavor with banana, clove, lemon, tropical fruit, and bubblegum notes. The high carbonation cleanses the palate. The mouthfeel and body are light. I love the big banana flavor. Very refreshing... I could easily polish off a growler after mowing the lawn on a hot summer day.

Sampled on draft at the brewery. Pours a hazy straw color with a medium sized creamy white head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of clove, banana and peach. The taste is dry peach and pear notes. Strong carbonation. Thin-medium bodied.
