En fut: Bière scintillante et appétissante. Arômes complexe de houblons. En bouche, C’est bien malté et pourvu d’un houblonnage parfaitement équilibré, ce qui rend cette bière d’intensité moyenne relativement intéressante comme bière à prendre sur une base quotidienne. En bouteille: Elle semble vieillir rapidement.

EN FÛT: D’ordinaire, je suis assez peu intéressé par les bières que l’on interpelle sous l’appelation de « blondes » dans la mesure où j’ai rarement le sentiment que celles-ci pourront m’offrir complexité et pleine satisfaction. Pour l’avoir essayé à quelques reprises (autant en fût qu’en bouteille), je dois avouer que cette bière semblait tout de même se distinguer honorablement de la moyenne mais, ce n’est « qu’hier », une fois rendu au Vices-Versa et devant un menu relativement « décevant », que j’ai réalisé tout le potentiel (plutôt incroyable!) de cette « oeuvre » signée Bierbrier Brewing Inc.. <P>Le parfum de cette bière est impressionnant : Houblon citrique, pêches et oranges et caramel léger. En bouche, ces odeurs se matérialisent pour laisser une marque assez solide. L’amertume (moyenne) vient rapidement laisser la place à un sens de la fraîcheur qui ne demande qu’à être davantage répété. Évidemment, cette bière ne gagnera pas de concours pour son apparence ou même son « originalité » ; à ce niveau, c’est plutôt « banal ». Néanmoins, elle sera parfaite pour accompagner les amis plus récalcitrants à essayer des bières plus « singulières ».

Également, je vois avouer trouver cette Bierbrier plus satisfaisante que la bière du même genre offerte par DDC, la Paienne (qui n’en demeure pas moins un exemple honorable du style). Aussi, je dois avouer être sceptique face à l’appelation de « cream ale » que RateBeer semble avoir offert à cette bière (et ostie que je suis tanné d’entendre mes propriétaires piocher en haut de mon logement!!!!).

Son étiquette de type plutôt commercial, ne rend absolument pas crédit à cette bière brassée dans la plus petite micro-brasserie sur l’île de Montréal. J’aurais personnelement tendance à la classer dans les bière fumée. Je salut également la constance de la qualité d’embouteillage que de plus gros micro-brasserie ne peuvent absolument pas se vanter.

Any first impressions?
-A clear bronze orange is covered by thick foam.
-A sanative aroma of C-hops is aptly balanced with toasted caramel maltiness.
-The wooden hop flavor is wisely joined to the caramel maltiness.
-A creamy body is created by the well-extracted malts and fitting carbonation.

What if you dig deeper?
-The biscuity, toasted grain builds with time, developing an attractive crunchy flavor and aftertaste.
-Bitterness is moderate, but allies mild wooden hops and grain.
-A perilously drinkable, humble ale for long sessions, this won’t get any high scores here, but I don’t think this beer could serve its purpose any better.

[on tap at brewery] Bright, totally clear gold with a white cover that formed nice lacing in the glass. Despite being served on a nitrogen/carbon dioxide blend the foam on this beer was a lasting thin cover (the tap was still being set up properly). Excellent, fruity caramel aroma with some noble hops, though the fruitiness didn’t seem to come only from the yeast. Notes of apple and peach. The flavour is nice and fruity and modestly sweet, with a rich caramel character that pervades throughout. Though the flavour is fairly gentle, the bittering balanced perfectly the caramely malt sweetness and did not interfere with the subtle, peachy and other fruity notes. There was a little bit of a sour flavour that I have experienced before in cream ales. Medium body with moderate carbonation (on nitrogen) and a lingering caramel flavour. Very quaffable stuff.

clear gold, lazing eggshell head. soft herbal aroma, light pepper? rubbery taste/texture, reminiscent of peaty smoke. pepper? floral, hops. pretty unique (or i haven’t had many cream ales). i like this, definitely drinkable. yeah this is hitting the spot.

UPDATED: JUL 12, 2009 Bière blonde à 5%, Présence d’une bonne mousse blanche qui demeure. Le goût du houblon est très présent, même surprenant. Une belle découverte.

UPDATED: MAY 24, 2009 This is very interesting... 1,89$ for 341ml bottle. This might be the hoppiest beer I ever had for that price! Caramel, fruity hop aroma, like some great american crafted beer, an aroma pretty unique in Quebec’s imaginary country. Striking hop taste at first (I guess when it’s fresh, as I’m pretty sure mine was; I don’t know who said he aged this but I wouldn’t), which also lasts. Pretty malty taste, herbal (barnyard at some point), notes of caramel, other hop subtilities. Great rich texture. Pretty good! They only brew this one?...

UPDATED: AUG 10, 2009 Belle robe d’un doré foncé. Très claire et moyennement pétillante avec une mousse qui disparait asser rapidement. Vive odeur de mélange houblon/malt avec une présence de cuire. En bouche, comme en finale, elle est très gouteuse pour une ’’petite’’ bière. Asser forte en houblon, elle s’attaque au palais et l’assèche. En finale, on peut percevoir des notes de cuire neuf. Très surprenante, dommage que je ne l’ai pas découverte plus tôt!

Light amber in colour with strong carbonation. Great aromas of crusty bread, herbal hops, and some milder notes of honey and citrus. Rounded flavors of lightly toasted malt, tree bark, and a bit of earth. Medium bodied, but finishes light and clean. Not really to style, but who the hell cares.
