Alengrin (3402) - BELGIUM - AUG 23, 2015
Dutch imperial stout with light beige, dense, creamy head and very dark burgundy colour, almost black. Aroma of smoked bacon, candied dates, chocolate, vanilla, liquorice, faint coffee grounds; clean fruity taste, dried plums, faint soy sauce saltiness, very nutty maltiness with a clear smoky accent, long roasted bitterness in the end with a deep peppery hop bitterness, alcohol remains fairly well hidden. Well-executed stout.

Bottle at PBFX. Dark brown color, small off-white head. Toasted a bit milky aroma. Medium-bodied to full-bodied. Harsh burned maltyness, some lactose. Aged some (bottled 01/2014).

Bottled at Petalax Beer Festival. Black, beige head. Chocolate and licorice up front. Sweet with full body and well rounded mouthfeel, low carbonation. Lemony licorice, chocolate sauce and sugar. Somewhat oily with warming finish.

Drank a 01-2014 bottle with my friends before heading to the vierdaagsefeesten 20-7-2015. Nice beer. Dark, roasted-like. Not very comprehensive taste, but still nice.

Low carbonation, that in my opinion gives the beer a strange and unpleasant mouthfeel, and makes it less of an easy drink. Second sip is better through... Flavours are good, chocolate, caramel. Nice dark colour.

Opaque black beer with a very thin, filmy head. Very chocolatey aroma. Flavour is thick, earthy malt with chocolate and malt. Rich, hearty, seriously tasty.

Bottle. Aroma very nice chocolate, dark chocolate. Taste follows the same path, lots of chocolate of all kinds. Clear dark brown colour. Rather sweet but firm balancing bitterness in the background. Very good.

Bottle kindly shared by Miro, many thanks. Dark brown color with minimal beige head. Caramel, coffee, dark chocolate in aroma. Taste, caramel, coffee, burned sugar, chocolate. Good.
