COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Lacu, a "Beer of the Abbey", boasts an ancient heritage dating to the days when friars brewed this fine blonde bier from secret recipes they guarded for centuries. Today, Belgium brewers use these same recipes to produce Lacu, an exquisite bier made from the finest ingredients: spring water, barley malt, hops, coriander, and orange. Lacu is labeled and corked by hand in order to preserve its superior quality. Uncork the elegant Lacu bottle and you’ll hear the effervescence releasing its subtle and original flavors. The refined taste of Lacu evokes memories of the world’s earliest brewers and their distinctive style. Enjoy Lacu, the "holy grail of Beer".

An Italian take on a classic Belgian style, the first thing you will notice about Lacu is its frothy, creamy, and unyielding head. This hazy golden ale’s aroma is full of lemon, orange, and yeast. Sweet grapes, grassy malt, and a mix of lemon and orange. Hops provide just a touch of bitterness. The 6.3% ABV warms a bit, as well. I also like the champagne characteristics with its effervescence, slightly dry finish, and flavor. Lacu is smooth, creamy, and exceptionally well balanced. It will also take forever to get through it because the glass is half full of foam after every pour. Perhaps not mind-blowing, but my, is that tasty

Draft. Cloudy golden color, huge white head with great retention. Aroma of dusty, funky barn attic. Taste is barnyard hay, straw, sour lemons. Tastes and acts like a proper saison.

750 c&c from total wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours hazy orange gold with a very frothy 4 finger near white head. Aromas of citrus and yeast/spice. It’s pretty earthy, somewhat fruity, and spicy. Finishes dry. The flavor strikes me as more saison/farmhouse than anything else. Nice stuff.

Date tasted: June 27, 2013... Glassware: Duvel oversized tulip... Occasion: goodbye school year, hello, summer--and goodbye NBA draft anxiety,, hello Anthony Bennett?!... Appearance: thick, falling-from-the-club-type foam head that sits unevenly on a pale, peach body of slow-paced carbonation--worthy of repeated viewing... Aroma: sports a softened mux of coriander and light hops--some bright banana and sugar tease, but not full-nostriled... Palate: rather smooth with wrinkles of aftertaste; slight carbonation gives it a champagne mouthfeel but much drier... Taste: sweetish? honeyesque? a delicate-tasting orange profile that doesn’t maintain its strength... Overall: From the start, gives one high hopes,, and on this day, when Cleveland moves forward, I’d like to think this beer is a good deal like Bennett--capable of great things despite its inability to truly be a #1 draft....

Pours a slightly hazy gold with a white head. Smells initially lemony before giving way to some semi sweet malts, yogurt, banana hints, floral/grassy. Tastes dry and spicy with some chamomile notes on the finish. Enjoyable.

Pours a hazy yellow/orange with lots of floating yeast. It has a big foamy head that rings the glass as it subsides. The aroma is very typical of the style as is the taste. It has a nice refreshing quality and is quite easy drinking.

750 ml corked and caged bottle poured a hazy gold with a lasting white head. Aromas of straw, orange zest, coriander and yeast. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of wheat, orange zest, light wheat and light yeast with a crisp lingering orange finish.

750 ml caged and corked bottle. Served in a tulip glass, the beer pours a slightly hazy gold color with an inch and a half white head that stays around for a while. There’s a good amount of lacing left on the glass. The brew smells like bready malt, bananas, some tropical fruit and a bit of clove. It tastes like lemon and orange peel, bready malt, pears, and a bit of banana, spice and a floral hop flavor. Mouthfeel/body is light/medium, it has high but soft carbonation and it’s easy enough to drink. I think it’s a decent brew, it’s worth trying but at $11.99 a bottle it’s not something I’d buy very often.

Cloudy straw yellow color with a tall frothy white head. Funky barnyard aroma with hints of lemon. Tart lemon flavor with coriander aftertaste. Dry finish. Nice beer.
