COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ale brewed with fig juice. A traditional style named for John Darby, preacher of temperance whose parishioners were oddly moved by a "soft drink" they insisted was just fig juice...

Pours a hazy and effervescent copper amber, topped by an inch or so of creamy off-white foam. Sweetish fruity aroma. Tart and tangy flavor, with a shot of not-quite-sweet fruitiness, perhaps a green apple flavor? Malt flavor on the dry side. Herbal yeast, herbal hops, and a touch of rhubarb and citrus. Very much like a saison, though one without any barnyard funk. Body just under medium, almost fizzy carbonation.

Bottle. Cloudy amber, bubbly, creamy lacing golden head. Sour, lactic, horseblanket and fruity/sugary aroma. Well-attenuated lean sparkly body. Dry fruity flavor, much less sourness than in the nose, just a bit dry towards the finish. Refreshing.

Pours dark amber with a soft white head, very hazy and cloudy. Nose is all wheat and yeastiness, light citrus hops show. Flavor is dry and crisp, wheat up front with a yeast estery finish. Slight tartness develops in the finish with a bit of fruit and citrus left behind.

Bottle shared with Hogtown Harry, Blankboy, and Greg Clow, Harry’s bottle. Pleasant tart aroma, very very interesting. Light hazy orange, small white head. Disappointing taste: Fruity, but thin and watery and uninteresting. Decent, didn’t mind drinking it, but just didn’t get the wow factor that went around the table with this one.

Bottle shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow & tupalev -- courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a hazy amber-orange with lots of little floaties and a large lasting foamy off-white head. Aroma is slightly funky with some sour fruit, yeast and spices -- very nice! Flavour follows the aroma with the fig juice coming out a bit more. Medium bodied, good amount of carbonation. Wow, this was way better then I expected, very enjoyable.

Best before 06/05. Pours deep gold into a tulip. Significant medium-sized off-white head. Lemon and soap aromas. Well carbonated and dry malt with lemons front to back. Lasting spritzy sour lemon finish.

Bottle shared with HogTownHarry, tupalev & blankboy - HogTownHarry’s bottle. Hazy amber-gold, wispy head. Tart saison/gueuze-like aroma with some faint fruity notes. Sharp, crisp mouthfeel. Flavour isn’t quite as sour as the aroma, but still has a nice bite, with the fig juice and some spice notes coming through in the finish. Very intreresting.
