2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Maria (7805) - Thisted, DENMARK - DEC 11, 2007
Golden with a nice head. The aroma is sweetish, flowery and slightly perfumed. The flavour is sweetish with floral notes of fruit and honey, and it’s profile is very clearly the Huyghe one. A bit too sweet.

UPDATED: AUG 4, 2009 33cL bottle in Ghent. Our bar with hundreds of selections said this was the least asked for beer. Not based on flavour, but on how many people have heard of it. I found it an average ale but the creepy pirate label was magical.

Toweringly huge, very dense yellowish head, slightly irregular over red-amber beer with a golden shine. Very fruity, even slightly lactic nose, esters and fusels à gogo, as well as a good dash of ethanol (well, at 9.5%...). Whiff of tree bark. Wry-ish, again very fruity (apples, plums, and some exotics), as well as slightly peppery. Alcohol & fusels overobvious, and pretty sweet. Just a touch of light caramel. Well bodied, certainly taken the alcohol content into account. Alcoholwarming. Definitely one of the best Huyghe products. Strange - I remember it rawer-alcoholic.
