3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Fin (5749) - Merton, Oxfordshire, England, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - JUN 21, 2009
Bottle that I picked up in some random supermarket in Belgium. Consumed at Campsite in Koksidje, Belgium 12-06-09. Pours clear bolnde with a white head and had a busy carbonation going on. Quite a pokey beer, mine actually said 9.4% abv. Spicy with coriander and also a touch of honey. Drinks far easier than 9.4% which I must confess the strength did surprise me a little. Soft in the mouth with a good tanginess. A5 A3 F6 P4 Ov12 3.0

Bottle. White high and long lasting head. Hazy yellow body. Lemon / grape fruit aroma. Dry malt flavor dominated by the high alcohol percentage
1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20 duff (5483) - St, Margarets, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 5, 2002
UPDATED: FEB 20, 2003 Sweet yeasty aroma, quite potent, but only due to the fact that the alcohol shows through. Sweet palate, bitter finish, but there was something in here that totally didn't agree with me. I don't really think i'm a big fan of the Huyghe Brewery either, they seem to keep pumping out either overly sweet brews, or brews where the alcohol shows too much, this is no exception, no elegance.

Muddy orange with white head. Aroma of yeast and alcohol. Taste of caramel and citrus, an odd blend. Slightly sour finish.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Ernest (5183) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - AUG 21, 2002
Head is initially large, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy dark yellow, dense tiny particles, bottle conditioned. Aroma is moderately malty (cookie), moderately yeasty (dough, mold), lightly hoppy (flowers), with notes of pineapple and alcohol. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Medium to full body, syrupy texture, lively carbonation, moderately alcoholic. Boring aroma, yeasty sour flavor.

Cloudy golden colour with a big white head. Yeasty and fruity aroma with a light pepper touch. Sweet spicy flavor with a fruity note and hints of alcohol in the finish.

UPDATED: FEB 18, 2012 Bottle from...Dranken Geers, 9.4% ABV. Brilliant straw spiralling with bubbles and throwing up a solid, pure white foam. One of the coolest labels I’ve ever seen- some kind of demonic piratical chap with eyes like hot coals and steam shooting from his ears. Happily, the beer lives up to the label. Aroma of marmalade, lemon curd, slight meatiness and pine. Bright and sparkling with Huyghe’s yeasty thumbprint all over it; pear and banana esters, a sprinkle of pine needles, clean wafery malts like Duvel, a puff of ground spice disguising the alcohol brilliantly. Perfumed and estery, but grounded by a solid underpinning malt and hop presence. Tripel how I like it.
