Same again. Indistinguishable from BGI or 333, really. Just Carling-standard ‘refreshing’ rubbish.

Not going to go through my usual tasting method, as it is simply another beer that makes me homesick, very difficult to get a decent beer in Vietnam. This is sickly sweet, with lots of corn notes, little bite, minimal carbonation, virtually no head and no real character.

I saw this beer before me that shimmered like a golden goblet full of iridescent dreams, and it smelt of all the fruits of the garden. It smelt of ripe, juicy passionfruit, of lemons and fragrant jasmine blossoms. It by smell alone was worthy of deities, but there being none I was left to sup alone. And I supped and it was good. It tasted fresh and creamy, like sherbet spiced with coriander, cardamon and the zest of a dozen limes. My thirst was slaked by this holy beer, but my appetite was not and I longed for more... That was not Biere Larue. Biere Larue was a rather ordinary East Asian lager that could have been any of the others I tried, just in different packaging.

Pours clear golden straw with resilient foamy large white head. Aromas of some acetone and light grass and some malt sweetness. Not much character in the light body. Med high carb. Grainy, light bitterness. Finishes dry and lacking some depth with a lingering near astringent character

33cl can. Thanks Tderoeck for the share.

Cans and bottles (4,2%) in Hoi An, Vietnam. Light golden with a small white head. Light malty aroma with hints of fruits. Very light and slightly sour. Sometimes a bit metallic taste. Drinkable in the heat when the beer is cold, but not a beer to bring home. The Export is slightly better. (2012-05-06)
