3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 henrikb (1258) - Aarhus, - AUG 9, 2010
Light amber hazy body, to fast disappearing off white head; Very pleasant banana yoghurt aroma, a very small amount of very dense clove aromas backs it very well and brings lots of complexity; very big body soft with huge very fitting carbonation, the larger amount of alcohol is well fitting; Long big warm yoghurt aromas, very long fell, balanced and excellent. Excellent beer the higher abv fits the wheat very well!
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 sebletitje (4391) - Enghien, BELGIUM - JUL 2, 2010
Bottle @ the brewery.
Hazy orange, white head.
aroma, yeasty, fruity and malty with notes of gains and mild bready nose, some banana.
flavors, same lingering yeasty palate with banana esters, malty, with a full body, hints of spices, puree like fruits/tropical, lingering roast, vegetal aspect and higher abv helps this one gain a little ground on the others brewed by Br. de Ré.
I enjoy their beers, but the yeast and the Hefe aspect make most of them light variations of one another, lacking some character.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Rastacouere (5919) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 14, 2004
Cloudy pale gold to straw color. Very mild aroma.. the yeasty house character which is a bit funky, dry, dusty and an orange that spent too much time under the sun. More of the same on the palate, rather uni-dimensional flavor profile. I dislike their yeast, it’s like it keeps the flavors from any expression. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation. Extremely dry altogether.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 MartinT (6340) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 14, 2004
Creamy, milky orange juice hints and sharper wheat allusions...Strength is very well-hidden but this witbier remains less talkative than hoped for and sadly uncomplex...Same yeast as their Blanche de Ré, less carbonation and fuller mouthfeel...Again, like Fantôme in its very artisanal, yeasty and fluffy character, but much less flavorful and creative...
