sunevdj (1764), Copenhagen OE, Denmark Apr 28, 2008 DLD. Pours black with a yellow head. Sweet with aromas of smoke, malts and a bit of leather. Well balanced. Low carbonation. Medium bodied. travita (1851), Frisco, Texas, USA Apr 25, 2008 Smoke and beef jerky in the smell. Smells like a meal. Black to brown in color with red highlights and a decent head. Woody flavors in the taste with smoke, roastiness, and malts. tronraner (1905), Maryville, Tennessee, USA Apr 19, 2008 12 oz bottle, many thanks to gunhaver. Pours a dark rusty black with thin, but long lasting, beige head. The aroma is much like beef jerky, and I find myself salivating very quickly; beneath that are notes of coffee, light chocolate, and just a hint of overripened fruit. The flavor is... delicious. Again with the beef jerky smokiness, which I love. There’s a creamy chocolate sweetness under the smoke, which keeps it from completely dominating. There’s a little bit of a roasted coffee note, too. The finish has a fair amount of bitterness to it, really earthy hops mostly. There’s a little bit of burnt sourness there, too, but only enough to make it crisp. The smoke lasts well into the aftertaste. Cletus (5001), Connecticut, USA Apr 18, 2008 Bottle courtesy of hogtownharry. Pours dark brown with a thin tan film. Smells sweet with some roasty hints and underlying smoke. Tastes slightly smoky and bitter with some sweet malty hints. Signature smokiness on the finish. Nice! bu11zeye (5430), Frisco, Texas, USA Apr 14, 2008 (Bottle) Pours a dark brown body with a small tan head. Aroma of smoked buffalo jerky, toasted biscuit, burnt wood, and roasted malt. Flavor of smoke, roasted malt, touch of dark fruit, and caramel malt with a mild bitterness and wood finish. awaisanen (1279), Irvine, California, USA Apr 14, 2008 From a 12oz Bottle. Dark brown, mostly opaque pour with a slender finger of creamy tan head. Thick aroma that wafts forth plumes of hammy smoke, charred maple, and smoldering campfire. Some roast malt adds a robust layer of coffee and chocolate for more depth beyond the bold smoke. Medium bodied, lightly carbonated mouthfeel with a creamy texture. Flavors of dark chocolate and campfire brewed coffee balance well with the heavy smoke. More delicate flavors of toasted coconut, vanilla, and mild toffee malt add a welcome layer complexity. Great mouthfeel and impressive smoke intensity. Flavors of coconut, char, and clean hardwood smoke round out the finish. IrishBoy (2685), Bakersfield, California, USA Apr 8, 2008 341 ml bottle from HogtownHarry! Nose of cherrywood smoke with some chocolate notes; very dark clear brown with a medium tan head; flavor has some medium smokiness, burnt toast, and some chocolate. Smokier than I usually like smokeds, but not overpowering and gross as some are. As you drink more the smoke flavor fades and more chocolate appears; finish has smoke and a light bitterness.
