341 ml bottle from HogtownHarry! Nose of cherrywood smoke with some chocolate notes; very dark clear brown with a medium tan head; flavor has some medium smokiness, burnt toast, and some chocolate. Smokier than I usually like smokeds, but not overpowering and gross as some are. As you drink more the smoke flavor fades and more chocolate appears; finish has smoke and a light bitterness.

Bottle, thanks to Bu11zeye. Poured a deep ruby-black with tan head. Aroma was an obvious smoke. Flavor was obvious smoke with sweet malt and alcohol. Did I mention this smelled and tasted like smoke....reminded me of a tasty liquid smoke. You could marinate thin strips of steak to make beef jerky in this....medium-full mouth feel with medium carbonation....very tasty!!!!! I would have again....

20071025 341 ml bottle. Thanks to Paul for sharing. Nearly black with thin tan head. Aroma is rich with licorice, dark cherry, and reminds of Captain Black tobacco. Flavor adds charcoal, cigarette ash, and charred notes. A bit astringent, but still boozy. Odd but appealing stuff.

A dark brown to black appearance. A very smokey aroma on this one. Some malt presence in the flavor but tons of smoke. I taste me some bacon, brats, and jimmy dean sausage. It really balances the malt and smoke well. However if you dont like smokey beers stay far away. I love them myself. Overall a very nice beer!

Appearance: Pours a dark brown, near black body capped by a ring of beige-colored bubbles. Smell: Dark malts and roasted barley with a scent of baker’s chocolate. The smokiness, though distinct, is kept under control. Taste: Roasted malts with flavors of chocolate and fire-scorched barley. Medium sweetness. There’s a full smokiness on deck, but it really blends in well with the rest of the beer. Roasty finish with further hints of dark chocolate and coffee. Mouthfeel: Medium-full body. Mild carbonation. Slight chewiness to the mouthfeel. Drinkability: A very good example of a smoked beer.

341 mL bottle received via trade with Glouglouburp. Pours opaque with a small, fizzy, brown head, diminishing with spare lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (dark bread, toasted grain, coffee, burnt chocolate), light hops (herbs), average yeast (leather) with notes of ashy wood and smoke. Medium bodied, sticky texture, average carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness.
