pantanap (1323), Chicago, Illinois, USA Dec 1, 2007 bottle.....poured a deep dark brown with a thin light tan head with some swirls once the head subsided ......an intense level of smokiness immediately hits the nose followed up by some roasted malt and chocolate notes....flavors are dominated by that campfire smoke at first but then allows some of the sweet chocolate malt and roast to make a presence.....this was my first smoked and i’m a little overwhelmed by the amount of burnt wood and smoke associated with this style. will try to rerate oncemy palate adjusts. hopdog (5535), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 29, 2007 341ml bottle shared courtesy of dickinsonbeer. Lubiere (4463), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Nov 23, 2007 A deep dak porter with a thin receeding moka head. A wonderful chocolate and peat aroma, with warming alcohol. In porter, a rich bitter chocolate with smokedness blending in perfectly, toasted and intense, some herbal notes. Rich and lingering. An excellent porter. Merci RH. moejuck (1165), Ohio, USA Nov 2, 2007 Dark brown body with a small head. The aroma is definitely roasted malts, chocolate, and a hint of smoke. The smoke is not dominant, but is easily detected. The taste is nice--plenty of chocolate up front with hints of smoke, and some roasted coffee as well. Interesting brew for sure. lalu (12), Morin Heights, Quebec, Canada Oct 29, 2007 Very dark beer color of merlot under a very strong light.Beige head, leaves little bit of lacing.Aroma of smoke and deeply roasted barley dominates.Medium bodied and sligtly syrupy.Bitter/sour after taste with a long lasting smoke and astringency. As far as my taste buds are concerned the taste is too agressive and not enjoyable. dmac (1423), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Oct 29, 2007 11.2 oz bottle thanks to glouglouburp, thanks Dany. A very solid and interesting beer indeed. The smoke flavor and aroma in this beer is present more in the background then most other smoked beers. Fruity woody aroma with hints of chocolate and light smoke. Complex sweet flavor of sour fruit, chocolate, wood and an aftertaste of light smoke. Very interesting beer that I wish I had more of. sliffy (1966), Columbus, Ohio, USA Oct 13, 2007 Shared at C-Bus 9 by moejuck: Pours a dark brown to black with a tan head.
