Bottled. A deep red beer with a thin brown head. The aroma has primary notes of chocolate, but also lighter notes of smoke, rope, and tar. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, beechwood smoke, and roasted malt, leading to a dry, roasted, and bitter finish.

Murky dark brown colour. Aroma is quite smoky with a thick fudge maltiness. Big and chewy, with lots of alcohol and a strong roast component. Dash of alcohol late. Not terribly cohesive...certainly next to the singular flavour of a rauchbier.

Bottle from RadioMGB, thanks! Deep dark brown color. Malt and beechwood smoke in the aroma. Malty flavor with peach. A slight tartness with loads of beechwood smoke. Peach, melon and pineapple in the finish. Lovely!

Comments: A solid structure, eminently malty with profound beechwoody Bamberg nuances. The hefty dose of residual sugars impart delicate honeyed, oatmeal cookies and cakey subtleties. Soft bitterness. Absolutely excellent.

341ml bottle shared courtesy of dickinsonbeer. Poured a dark brown color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of camp fire with some chocolate and roast in the back ground. Tastes of lighter smoke, chocolate, roast, and light coffee.

Bottle... Very dark brown ale (practically black) with a small, khaki head. Smells like the charred insides of a whiskey barrel... an intoxicating blend of hickory, mesquite, beechwood and peat smokes. Full-bodied with a mildly creamy mouthfeel and modest carbonation. Fairly well-balanced, although it does lean just a hair on the bitter side. Smoke, unsweetened cocoa and espresso. A touch oxidized. Finishes smoky, meaty and moderately bitter. (Bottle) Pours a dark brown body with a small tan head. Aroma of smoked buffalo jerky, toasted biscuit, burnt wood, and roasted malt. Flavor of smoke, roasted malt, touch of dark fruit, and caramel malt with a mild bitterness and wood finish.
