Opaque dark color, with a big thick foamy tan-colored head, smoky nose, with dark roasted malt aromas. Medium-bodied smooth smoked malt, dark coffee, hint of mocha, burnt flavors with mild hop bitterness finish.

Pours a dark brown, almost black color, small tan head disapearing quickly. A few dabs of lace around the snifter. Aroma is of charred wood, and a little chocolate. Flavor is smoked burnt wood and chocolate. Not my thing. Thanks to RadioMGB for letting me try this.

Some smokey aroma but not much. Lightly sweet and malty. Maybe some tobacco. Hard to pin down. Good balance though and easy to drink.

2004: Poured a dark brown with a minimal tan head. Smokey aroma that was very natural. Some of the ones I have had smelled more like bottled liquid smoke. this was very smooth. The base beer was malty and amost sweet. Flavor was lightly sweet, roasted malt and a slight tang and the end. Smokey middle to finish but not overpowering. Nicely balanced.

Sweet toffee and coffee nose with a little smoke, black color, foamy tan head. Roasted malt, dark fruits, bitter chocolate end with a good dose of smoke. Quite smokey actually. Medium body and a creamy mouthfeel. This is a Big Beer, for sure, but there was something odd in the flavor that I just didn’t like. I think it was the mix of smoke/roasted tastes with a sugary sweetness. Cheers, MartinT!

MartinT - you got my heart, thanks again - this is great: Vintage 2004 -Pitchblack colored brew with a small milk coffee brown head on top. Beautiful intense smoked, tabacco nose - meaty with some chocolate hints. Tastes like liquid smoked Scarmoza cheese, peat and wood and tabacco. Nutmeg aftertaste. Very complex - great balanced - I love it - MORE!!

2005 vintage. Poured blacker than a tax collector’s heart. Gorgeous tan cap lasts. aromas: smokey licorice, woody burnt treacle. massive body...sweet, bready, toasted nutty smoked cocoa...with a sweet but charred bittering finish. Like a lovely bitter-sweet tar coating the palate and mouth. This is a smoked ale I can get behind....the smoke ads to the multi-layered tastes of a thick porter but does not over power...a very nice beer indeed.

This is a very good Smoked brew. Thanks Rastacoure. Smokey, roasty, and malt flavors. Finishes smooth, rich, and thick.
