341 ml bottle purchased with the mix 6-pack of Bièropholie IPAs. Very dark, dirty-hazy copper, thick with clouds and frothy fluffy topping...delightful pungent nose, orangy-grapefruity with faint but noticeable pie spices, and just a hint of creamy vanilla...wonderfully thick, juicy-fruity body, muted but always present citric hops, bitter orange swirled into burnt caramel, maple syrup and an oaky backdrop. Excellent, the best IPA yet from these guys.

Robe ambrée à rubis. Mousse fugace. Arômes de houblon. Fait penser à un sous-bois. Épices... Saverus de houblon floral avec des notes de caramel et d’alcool (léger). J’aime bien. Plus forte en saveurs d’houblon que lorsqu’elle était toute jeune.

Excellent aroma of grapefruity hops with malt andsome sweetness. Pours a gorgeous dark red color, close to ruby, with a thin head. The flavor is very strong and yet has a decent balance, great cascade hops grapefruit signature with leaf notes and some malt and sweetness, medium, lasting bitter finish that has the same feeling I get when I’m eating grapefruit. Medium body, smooth oily texture, lively carbonation. Wow, this is great, I like that the Cascade hops isn’t overpowering the rest of the beer.

Copper-red hue is crowned by a great fully lasting 2-inch off-white foam, sticking to the glass and supported by ample carbonation. Very green nature, the hops are very woody, leafy, citrusy. Martin got the grapefruit’s subtlety right, this is all cascade and it would not have been my first guess at the hops used. It does have a good malt backbone though, smooth, earthy and honey reminiscent. Efficient carbonation level fits the medium body aptly. Bitter finish, well balanced. A globally well made beer devoid of flaws and typical of bièropholie’s high standards.

UPDATED: APR 2, 2007 The Lure:
Generous head and lacing on reddish ochre hues. Wealthy, cheesy and woody hop resin steaming out of sweet, earthy and fruity honey undertones.

The Festivities:
A severe resinous hop bitterness coats the tongue throughout as succulent earthy, toffee malts attempt equilibrium. Wood chips and orange rind ride airy bubbles to a scrumptious wet bark finish. Amazing how this all-Cascade-hop IPA has so few grapefruit, citrus suggestions.

Transcendence:
Scraping and squeezing a vivacious forest.

Clear amber-copper coloured body is topped by a generous and lasting, off-white head that coats the glass. Citrus hops are initially strong but marry well with a chewy, thick, rich maltiness in both the aroma and flavour. Moderate bitterness that lasts on the tongue. Medium body with soft, creamy texture and fair carbonation that is gently effervescent. I liked it more and more with each sip. Shaker glass, just above fridge temp. Bottle (Peluso, Apr. 2005).
