bottle, 2006 vintage. Via trade with radiomgb (thanks, Jeff!) Poured pitch black with a moderate sized brown head. Aroma is primarily dark chocolate, with some notes of coffee, brown sugar and some smoke. Bitter chocolate flavor, finishes bittersweet. Finish is a bit astringent. Silky smooth and easy to drink.

2005 bottle from Paul that I got probably a year ago or so. Found it in my stash and decided to open it. Pours out a very dark black color with a really dark brown head on it. Smell is roasted and coffee flavored, with some caramel in it as well. Taste is rich and smooth and kind of watered down, making it not as thick as I was hoping it would be. Still, being not so thick makes it easy to drink, so in the summer time I do not mind this aspect of the beer. If I was drinking this in the winter, I would have been a little upset because it did not really warm, and it drank so quickly. Still, it was a decent beer and these guys make some pretty good stuff.

Bottle, courtesy of Boutip. Pitch black color. As others have said, this stuff smells like butterscotch. Palate is thin, probably the most watery imperial stout I have ever had. Flavor is strong on chocolate and cafe, but this weird sourness that I detect is quite annoying. Not a very good beer.

12 oz bottle, via goldorak. Pours an extremely dark black body under a large foamy dark brown head that receded, leaving lots of intricate fine lacing. Aroma is very chocolaty and roasty with an alarming diacetyl butteriness. A touch of vanilla. The flavor is burnt and roasted malt up front with some slight buttescotch and a light sour mash note on the finish. Late on in the finish there’s some chalkiness and light yeast. Minimal alcohol. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a slick oily texture and minimal soft carbonation. Some lingering dry nutty malt. I gotta say, this one didn’t live up to expectations. I just couldn’t get past that butterscotch that was all around.

Bouteille 2006. Couleur noire opaque, mousse moyenne compacte, reste longtemps.

(Bottle, 2006 vintage) Pours a black body with a medium brown head. Aroma of lactose, Whoppers chocolate malt balls, and coffee. Flavor of sweet chocolate, vinegar, sourness, roasted malt, and coffee.

Big thanks to radiomgb for this fine beer. Pours incredibly dark with one of the darkest brown heads I’ve seen on a beer. The aroma has roasted malts, woody hops, dark fruits, thick cream and bitter chocolate. Medium / thick body that ends with a spritzy carbonation blast that makes it seem much thinner. The flavor starts with roasted malt and some citrus. there is also an apparent sweetness and some lactic acid. the finish is more lactic and on the sour side. This is a good beer, but not what I expected.

Nose-butterscotch, Wurthers candy, soy sauce, cream. Body-opaque with a medium ring of bubbles. Taste-big let down after such a big nose-butterscotch, light iced coffee, light lemon, unsweet cookie dough, light malt vinegar. Too vinous to get a high score.
