Robe noire opaque surmontée d’une mousse brune généreuse et persistente. Arômes de pain grillé, de saumon fumé et de chocolat. Saveurs de chocolat noir amer, malts torréfiés, cerises noires, vanille, café en finale. Wow...

bottle. 2005. thanks to Goldorak for letting me try this. Pitch black, mocha head is quick dissipating. Big roast malt aroma, dark fruit like raisins along with coffee notes. big bubbly chocolatey character and notes of coffee. long roasty finish. As it warms up it mellows out a little bit. Awesome.

Thanks to beerbuzzmontreal for this. Shared with Heemer77 near the end of a long night tasting beers. I’ll try to read my notes. 2005. Pours dark black with a brown head. The aroma is of choclate malt, lots of malt, some sourness. Taste is chocolate, caramel. Thats where the notes end.

鶕 ml bottle: Obtained in trade with tiggmtl, thanks Stephen!) Wooh, this is possibly the smokiest and most strongly roasty Imperial Stout I’ve ever had. The flavor is totally dominated by dry, dark, very smoky and very bitter roast, and strong coffee, with some modest chocolate lurking in the background. Naturally, there is a fair amount of sweetness, but the strong bitterness easily balances it out, really, to the point where you just don’t notice the sweetness right away. Rich, chocolaty, coffee nose shows quite a nice smokiness as well. Medium to full bodied, certainly not viscous, heavy or sticky. Black and fully opaque, except at the very edges. Light brown head rises to over half an inch after the pour, but quickly settles to a thin, patchy film. Not normally the type of beer I’d rave about, but this is pretty damn fine.

Another bottle shared with csbosox. The body is black with no light showing through. The head was thin and orange colored. The aroma is mushrooms, chocolate and earthy moss. The taste has dark chocolate and coffee. A strong earthy finish. A little thin with little carbonation. A decent impy.

Aroma: some alcohol, strong bitterness of chocolate/roasted coffee beans, perhaps some sugary scents as well
Appearance: very dark, poured thick, small light brown head
Flavor: strong bittersweet chocolate flavors, as well as, some chocolate syrup and some smokiness; just a hint of spicy bananas
Palate: very smooth and rich, with a bittersweet chocolate lingering aftertaste
Overall: Excellent--would go well on top of vanilla ice cream
