2007 vintage, Maniacs asked for a thicker version. Here it is. We are not responsible if your tongue stays black. 7.9%.
2008, More of everything and a bit more on the roasted than on the chocolate.

2005 bottle. Pours a very deep dark black, basically opaque...with a nice thick dark tan head. The aroma immediately reminds me of a Speedway....lotsa choco-roasty-coffee to enjoy. The flavor is just as roasty with a fine bitter edge, and a tinge of tobacco-ashy taste (the good kind!) toward the finish---very tasty. Soft carbonation, slightly less than medium mouthfeel leaves me wishing it was a bit fuller on the palate, but it’s still nice, and the bitterly roasted finish is great. I’m enjoying this one!!

Botelella, 2009, courtesy of Plovmand. Pitch black colour, light brown head, nice and creamy. Aroma has lots of roasted malt and chocolate along with coffes, sweet too. Good filling mouthfeel. Lovely flavour, lots of roasted malt and chocolate, sweet, coffee and (dark) fruit. Great tasty brew indeed!

2007 vintage 7.9%. 12 ounce bottle thanks to Dany! Pours a pure black color with a small brown head. A sweet roast and lactose nose. The flavor is initially a rich smoky, salty brew, dark fruit, viscous body. brown sugar and roast. Initially, I thought this had been off and gone soy sauce, but really it needed to warm and I didn’t get the sour element to this. Some Imperial Stouts have significant lactose-like sourness (such as DR’s Baltic Porter) and this certainly has this. And for me, when it is done well this works like a champion. Very nice brew. A bit of oxidation around the edges and some caramel and cherries at the core. Interesting brew!

Found a bunch of these at a local store and bought them out. I’ve been trading them away and finally had one for myself. Now I want all my trades back! Pours a deep, thick black inky syrup with a big frothy dark brown head that just lingers. Aroma has lots of roasted malts and dark chocolates. A little bit of acidity moving in on the taste but it does not detract from the great roasted malt and lovely chocolate that just sits on your tongue. I have 2-3 more and I don’t know if I’ll be able to part with them.

Bottle, closing in on two years old, whoops. Pours a dark black with a huge cocoa hued tan head. Such a large head that my initial thoughts are that there’s probably something wrong here. Chocolate, paper, roast and hints of old fruit, and even something chemical smelling in the background, sweet like mothballs.. Starts off with some chocolate, but there’s certainly some papery flavors going on here. Cocoa, toast, and some old plum flavors. Tons of carbonation, bitter old cocoa, big weird booze notes that rise up, and a very chemically old flavor. Dumped.

Found this at Coin Duluth in Montreal last week, they still have a few left which is kind of surprising. The head on this beer is absurd; it’s so thick that a hole stayed after I had poured beer through it. The aroma is like a chocolate cake, with tons of roast present. The taste is kind of molasses with chocolate, maybe a bit of alcoholic warmth. Pretty high carbonation for a beer of this style. Wonderfully complex, a lot of fun to give this a beer so late after its retire.

Pours black with cola-like head. Aroma is bursting with rich chocolatey notes, sweet caramel, and deep roasted notes. Incredible chocolate in the flavor with a well rounded balance of coffee, roasted malt, and vanilla. Great stout, lively carbonation.

Bottle (I assume this is a 2008): pours dark black with a big foamy head, aroma of chocolate, coffee, taste is heavy on the roasted malts, somewhat bitter, pretty carbonated, not overly impressed with this one.
