2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 JensenTaster (1718) - DENMARK - AUG 15, 2005
(On bottle at RBESG 2005) My last pour at the RBESG and therefor a bit distant to me and the notepads dosen´t help either. Dark amberish colour, white head. Aroam of burnt hips(the rose) and sugar. Apple-woodlike taste and a watery finish. The hops where very much not there.

Bottle from Bonisoir in Montreal. Pours a deep hazy brown with a fairly hefty tanned head. Loads of malt, bordering on barley wine aromas, with touches of plum and fruit. First impressions are that there is something odd going on here, as this is darker than pretty much any IPA I’ve seen, and comes out smelling like something full of malt, and not too heavy on the hops. Medium to thick body (especially for an IPA), and very malty, but not overly sweet. Finishes with a good amount of bitterness. I really have no idea what to make of this… it’s not really an IPA in my book (and blind I’d never peg it as one). More like a hoppy brown ale. Marginally drinkable (though I dumped about half of the bottle), but I certainly wouldn’t repeat this one.

Bottled. Dark amber coloured. Light and fruity aroma with a touch of acidity. Weak and light flavour with a very dry finish. Boring.
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 Dickinsonbeer (5076) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - AUG 6, 2008
12 oz bottle. Pours a nice medium amber with a thick lasting head. Aroma is grassy herbs, earth, garbage-like actually, with some vegetal, and sharp metallic like harsh caramel malts- ech. Flavor is quite a bit worse, with more metallic coming through, grass dirt, garbage, and lots of very astringent and nasty dirty weeds. Astringent drity metallic bitterness- ech. Terrible. Couldnt finish. A rare miss from Bieropholie.

20080728 12oz bottle shared with dickinsonbeer. Wow. Horrible aroma and flavor of cooked canned green beans. Offputting flavors of old peat and mud. Amazing that Paul and I agreed for once on a terrible beer. Too bad, I seem to usually like the Bieropholie stuff.

Nice try. I've tasted better homebrewed IPA's. This beer is nothing but empty bitterness. Nose : no hops. Mouth : no hops. Let's give it another shot.

This IPA is not very pleasant. It is metallic and sour. No bitterness is noticable in this. Quite dry though. Slightly thin as well.

Bottle. We were anxious to try this one. Cracked it, poured two snifters about 1/4 full. Wife sniffs and says.."yumm...butterscotch aromas..". Uh-oh....don’t think this IPA should be giving that scent off. Sure enough....very skunky. I’ll say this much, it was nice and bitter skunk juice in the end, but that’s about it. Will re-rate when I get another bottle.
